the Holy Quran is the last divine book which has been reveled to human race by Almighty God for the guidance of entire world.Quran is the only authentic scripture of God in the world today. It is mostly read book in the entire civilised world. The renowned historian and former professor of Princeton University Philip K Hitti opined “Though the youngest of the epoch-making books, the koran is the most wodely red book ever written, for besideds its use in worship,it is the text book from which practicallyevery moslim learns to read Arabic”.It is memorised by more than ten million believers through out the world. If Quran was was Prophet Mohammed’s composition other men could revel it.Let them produce ten verses like it.if they could not(and it is obvious that they could not) then let them accept the Quran as an outstanding evidential miracle” Page 33,H.A.Gibb in Mohammedanism,London 1953.The Quran admittedly occupies an important position among great religious books of the world.Though the youngest of epoch-making works belonging to the class of literature,it yeilds to hardly any in the wonderful effect which it has produced on large masses of men.It has created an all but new phase of human thought and a fresh type of character.” (Rev.G.Margoliouth in Introduction to The Koran by J.M.Rodwell.)Muslim community should be proud for having the lst Devine book in a well preserved form. This blessed opportunity to any other devine religion. Before the Quran hundred of scriptures including the three former heavenly books have been annihilated.

What the heck is this all. We all know that the Quran is the most read book in the whole world. It is taught by many people in the world, and many children learn it all the time. Muslims go to the masjid everyday, five times a day, and they read the quran. Is there anyone who reads the Bible five times a day. I don’t think so. Does anyone try to memorize the Bible. I don’t think so. The Quran is memorized by many Muslims around the world. Almost 75 percent of the Muslims read it Five Times A Week. So, why would you say that the Bible is the most read book in the world, when the Quran is read everyday by millions. No one reads the Bible, except for those at the church. And, no christian child reads it, except they only listen to it when they are in the church. Any ways, do you even see any christian boy interested in Religion or Bible. I don’t think soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. You gotta change that and try to become a muslim(s). Because you would be luck y if you did.

This certainly is a very weak article. I also question the research (especially as no sources are listed).

However, as a first step one needs t agree on a definition of “most read”. The author states that the “figures show the number of books printed and sold” over the last 50 years.

Maybe the author should have titled this article “Most sold books … …”. “Sold” wold need to be defined. Many religious works are not “sold” to the public (just look at all the religious books placed into hotel rooms).

The Quran is certainly the book which gets physically “touched” most often these days. However, I believe that in total, more people actually held a bible in their hands during their lifetime.

I also believe that Christians also read from their bible during every/most gatherings,

One point we all can agree on – the teachings of the monotheistic (abrahamic) religions are the most widely distributed books in the world.

Maybe instead of just mentioning The Bible as #1 – the author should have stated “Quran/BibleS (plural as there are many different ones)” (please understand this last comment as a light/”tongue in cheek” note – I know how much the abrahamic religions like to argue/distance/fight with each other). I would hope that all people strive to educate themselves in the teachings of all major religions (and important regional).

When it comes to defining what should be counted as the “reading” of a book…. that will be quite difficult. As mslims go

HOW CAN ANYONE JUST MEMORIZE THE BIBLE… COME ON THERE ARE ABOUT A BILLION COPPIES OF DIFFERENT VERSIONS.

THE QURAN IS GENERALLY A FREE DISTRIBUTION RATHER THAT SOME THING THAT IS TO BE SOLD.
SURELY THE FIGURES ARE WRONG AND THE PERSON WHO REPORTED THIS IS BIASED… MAY BE BECAUSE HE IS A CHRISTIAN AND KNOWS THAT CHRISTIANITY IS THE LARGES RELIGION (ALTHOUGH THERE ARE MANY THAT DONT PRACTICE)…

jUST ADMIT IT THE FIGURES ARE WRONG.

THE QURAN IS THE ONLY BOOK THAT CAN BE READ A BILLION TIMES.. YET WITHOUT THE SLIGHTEST FEELING OF BORDEM.

This is in reply to the person addressed as ‘rahimankonari’…
You said that you can’t agree with Mr.Rahman.Konaris claim that Quran is the sacred words of God. You also asked why it is not possible that prophet Muhammed (pbuh) compiled the holy Quran.
This is my answer to your quwstion.
First and foremost, what you have to understand is that the Prophet Muhammed(pbuh) was ILLITERATE. His father passed away before he was born and his mother died when he was six years old. But even still, he was brought up by his foster mother and once his mother passed away his uncle took care of him. Since he was small he lived a life of a shephard. He had no means in which he could educate himself. So how is it ever possible that Propthet Muhammed (pbuh) has aquired the ability to write such a complicated, divine and unique book as the Holy Quran that even a scholar of the highest degree is sruggling to completely understand?
Is it plausible to think that someone who is illiterate is able to write such a book?
In addition to this, whenever there was a battle and when an agreement is about to be made the Propthet Muhammed (pbuh) always had to ask for help from one of his companions to direct him to the place in which he should place his signature. And given that he cant write, in every single agreement he made he placed his seal -which is a seal of his ring that only he possessed.
If you are still not satisfied, all i can tell you is to read the quran and find out for yourself whether such a book can be ever written by a mere human.
If still you are not satisfied, then try to write a book as the quran…I am 1000000000% sure you will struggle to write even one single sentence without a single flaw!

OK, somethings that your saying I agree with others I don’t.

The Quran, ok, falls in somewhere around harry potter. I know, because I didn’t just comment on the bogusness of it all, I actually did research. Thats the number of copies though.

I’m a christian. I beleive the quran is the most read book. That doesn’t mean its the most right book though.

And Christians actually read the Bible outside of church, ok? Yes, even the young ones.

And, personally, I think your more lucky to be a christian. We beleive that only beleiving in Jesus can save you. From what I understand, most other religions beleive something along the lines of needing to do more good works then bad to get to heaven or paradise. Well, we just can’t earn salvation, we’re always going to sin.

And as for the quran sounding like something no human could have written, what about the Bible? I mean, who comes up with that? Several who’s, actually, over a period of thousands of years. What are the chances?

And for those of you who say the qurans from God. Well, isn’t the Bible? Yet you only choose to beleive select parts of the Bible.

    WOW,
I cannot believe that this article about books spiraled out of control into a religious debate.
Maybe the Quran is widely memorzied which begs the question, why would buy the book if you already memorized it?
Perhaps the Quran isn’t printed as often as it once was, or maybe the author of this article simply overlooked it.
Bottom line is, every religion believes that people are not perfect and make mistakes. So for the love of whomever you believe in, stop trying to sound self righteous and cut the guy a break.
I honestly do not see the point in a dozen people sounding ridicluous “QURAN DUH THIS PERONS IGNROANT”. Once is enough, I know it’s hard to believe but the louder you speak and more you say does not make your point any more valid.

And a final thought, just becuase a professor from some schmancy school says something, that doesn’t make it fact. An educated person’s opinion is still an opinion

Oh and to Abdi, I am a Christian teen and I do read the Bible so stop being so ignorant in thinking that nobody reads the Bible. (Becuase I know plenty of muslims the don’t pray during school nor do they ever read the Quran) Just because your religion allows some the excuse for murdering people doesn’t make it better.

Obviously this site is misleading. However there is no need for a debate. How many of us Muslims are following a lifestyle with the orders of Allah (SWT) the way shown by Muhammad (SAW). We have to Submit COMPLETELY and not Partially before making any claim. To answer the question of the Bible. It was not a man made book it was a Holy Book before it was altered through time. Every time mankind got corrupt Allah (SWT) through HIS Infiniti Mercy sent Prophets time after time era after era to guide mankind where to a question that no one can answer. There was a time when we did not exist, but time existed according to historians. Historians can date events, personalities, and eras. There will come a time when we will perish. Allah (SWT) answers that question with (we were created from dirt, we will go back to the dirt (Grave), and we will be revived from the dirt to give an account) These days even a TRUE Religion became a Tradition. If we Submit (Islam means to submit) to Allah(SWT), Allah(will guide us) spread guidance like the rain that spreads over a nation. We should correct ourselves first instead of pointing fingers. If we have dirt on our face and if we wipe the mirror for the rest of our lives the dirt will never leave from our face. Every one was given intelligence, intellect, and the ability to choose from right from wrong. It is our DUTY TO SEARCH FOR THE TRUTH AND ALLAH (SWT) WILL GUIDE US. EVERY ONE US HAS TO TASTE FROM THE CUP OF DEATH. SO PREPARE PREPARE PREPARE. My ALLAH (SWT) Guide us (BELIEVERS AND NON_BELIEVERS) on the correct path. Ameen

No book can ever compete with the Quran. FACT.

There are many muslims who don’t know Harry Potter but there are many who are not muslims that KNOW of the Quran (Coran, Koran etc..)

There are 1.3 billion Muslims. Supposed half of them own the Quran, then there are 650 million Muslims own the Quran. If we count all Muslims since prophet Muhammad’s best friend 1,400 years ago, maybe there are 10 billion copies of Quran owned by Muslims…

BTW, I believe Quran is the only book with more than 500 pages that could be MEMORIZED (NOT ONLY READ!) by millions of people in the world….

Sorry I can not agree. The telephone book is read more than any other book in the world. The telephone book is the most widely published and re-published book due to its falling out of date by the time it is printed. The telephone book is up-dated each year with more addition and deletion of information trying to say current. Even though reading is not as long as the reading of other text, the telephone is read more by millions all over the world per day than any other book in the world. And more countries have access to a telephone book than the bible.

Your argument is flawed and blemished by the face that Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world which is greatly accepted by many new Muslims. Doesn’t commonsense dictate that new books of the Quran would have to be printed for new Muslims to read?

“Just because your religion allows some the excuse for murdering people doesn’t make it better.”

I think you should stop commenting on topics that you no sane knowledge off cause it just states you as the idiot you are.. just thought I point out the fact that you forgot to mention.. didn’t G.W Bush murder over 1.2 million and counting Iraqi’s and Afghans after so call “God told me so” btw wasn’t he an christen.. ohh the Hypocrisy .. so don’t blame Islam when Christians have more blood on their hands then any other religion..

  51. its only a list maid by 1 man
    Posted October 20, 2010 at 11:05 am

i would have to say that i believe the Bible to be the most printed book in the world but not every copy is read, i live in a country where Christianity is the largest religious group. Before i got to the age of 15 i had been given 3 Bibles and then i have also bought one (not in my mother tong) so i have 4 Bibles and i have read only one of them, I also have one Qur’an and and have read him to. now as to the reading i am representing 1 to 1 but with copies i’m 4 to 1, i also have 3 sisters which also have a few bibles, so in my house i believe there to be about 10 – 12 bibles and 1 Qur’an, and all of us have read the bible at least once. So the numbers copy printed in many countries are to many due to the fact that the church gives out so many Bibles through for instance the schools (just come to the school and give every one a copy) but we should not underestimate how many people read the Bible as has been done in many comments.

One thought though that came to me when I was reading these comments is that wouldn’t literacy rate also play a role, literacy rate among Muslims is not to high in many places, (i do not mean to say this to offend anybody) but wouldn’t that play a role in how many Qur’ans are printed? Because in places where the literacy rate is low people have more kids, and often these people don’t have to much money, so if they would have a copy of the Qur’an they would probably settle with one copy for the family.

i have to note two things here in the end and the first is that any religious person can admire the Muslims for the intense life long study of the Qur’an.
The second its to the comments maid to discredit the validity of the holy Bible and its changes through time. The changes are minimal and i believe that God would not let his book lose its meaning, and that He would preserve every thing that is of importance, and then that we don’t know if the Qur’an today is completely authentic because of Uthmān ibn ‘Affān the 3rd Caliph, there were many versions of the Qur’an already calculating in his time and he just as the priests at Nicea chose the one he thought to be the correct one and ordered all the other once to be burned but just as with the Bible God would never let His book lose its meaning, so i believe that the Bible and the Qur’an we have to day are both the word of God.

(Religious fanatics from all sides, rest assured that this article is completely ridiculous…)

Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy as one of the top 10 most read books in the WORLD? I mean, I thought it was a good book, but what about…

Charles Dickens (ie A Tale of Two Cities, Oliver Twist)
    Don Quixote
    Uncle Tom’s Cabin
    War and Peace
    Charlotte’s Web
    Chronicles of Narnia
Really popular books for very young kids (ie, The Very Hungry Caterpillar)
    To Kill a Mockingbird
    1984
Maybe Catcher in the Rye or The Outsiders?

“The Analects” of Confucius or The Daodejing (supposedly by “Lao-Tzu”) HAVE to be in there, because of the sheer number of people in China and their importance in Chinese culture.

Of course the Qur’an should also be on the list.

If we were truly able to list all the books read at least as many times as Hitchhiker’s Guide, we’d probably have a list of 100, not 10.

At least browse Wikipedia before you write an article like this. [check out list of best-selling books... it's very incomplete but even so has WAY more than 10 listed above Hitchhiker's Guide]

FACT: The Holy Quraan is the most Read Book in the World.
PROOF: It is Compulsary to Recite the Whole of the Holy Quraan in Masjid (Mosque) during the Holy Month of Ramadhaan for the Taraweeh Prayers after the night prayers in Congregational Prayer in Mosques. So Millions of Mosques around the World Recite the Whole of the 30 chapters of the Holy Quraan in Prayer within the Holy Month of Ramadhaan, Impressive, Right. And also Around the World there are Madrasahs, where the students are memorising the Holy Quraan in their millions.

The Most obvious and the Strongest evidence that no-one can deny and proves straight out that the Quraan is the Most Read/Recited is, Muslims around the world, about a billion pray the compulsory 5 times prayer everyday reciting verses of the Holy Quraan. so let me calculate shall I…
    1,000,000,000 x 5 = 5,000,000,000
Well, Well, what do we have here, yeah, Ding Ding, we have the True Winner. 5,000,000,000 times is how many times parts of the Holy Quraan is Recited/Read in 1 day, Yes people, One Day, where as the bible has been read 3.9 Billion times in the past 50 years. Wow, what a Difference.
Verses of the Quraan are recited 1.1 Billion times more in a day than the bible has been read in 50 years.

This proves that this Website is so Wrong and Bias. People tend to reserach before publishing so called Facts, But I guess this website was really vying for the Bible to be Number 1, when clearly The HOLY QURAAN WILL ALWAYS BE NUMBER 1, in the Most Read, Most Memorised, Most Recited, Most Treasured and Forever Most Loved Book, not only in the World, But the Universe, and thats a FACT.

May be the bible is the world best selling book, that does not mean that it is the most read book.

The Holy Quran is far from being the most read book.. it is read constantly all over the world each and everyday.

The muslim perform 5 times prayers minimum per day and in each prayer he read the Quran..

Now what is amazing is that the every minute in the world there is a Man who is performing Namaz.. this mean that the Quran is the most read book in the world whether you agree or not

How can this Website know exactly which book is read by People, am guessing through Sales. However the Middle-East and other Muslim Countries don’t Keep Track of the Numbe of Quraans Sold because it is to much to calculate, plus Quraans are given to people for Free as it is the Truth from Allah (swt) and is intended to be accessible to Everyone. The numbers are way beyond what the west count for the Bible. Quraan being read in Asia during the day surpasses the number of time the Bible is read in 50 years.

What people don’t get is that, The Bible and the Torah all speak about the Coming of the Last Prophet, the Torah and Bible was sent by Allah (swt) the One God, and they’ve been changed so many times through-out History and even now that it misinforms people of the Truth, the Only True book that hasnt Changed is the Quraan .
If you are a Devout Christian then you most likely believe what the Bible says, so the Bible says that, David is an adulterer, Moses is a murderer, Lot commited incest and that Noah was a Drunk. You believe this about the Prominant people of their Time,Thats just so Wrong and one of the Worst Sins a person can believe, when all these Prominant men were Prophets (Peace Be Upon Them) of Our Lord.
People> Read the Quraan and You’ll Know the True Religion, and Thats ISLAAM.

Most Christians and Jews don’t know this, But Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Lot, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Jethro, Moses, Aaron, Davd, Solomon, Elijah, Jonah, Zechariah, John the Baptist and Jesus (Peace be Upon Them) are all Muslim Prophets (Messengers of Allah (swt)), these Prophets are mentioned in the Torah or the Bible, what you are also blinded in seeing, because of the changes in the Bible and Tora is that Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) is mentioned as the Last and Final Prophet of the True Religion of God and this Prophet is descended from Abraham (peace be upon him) from the line of his First son Ishmael (Peace Be Upon Him). Thats Rigth, Jesus and Moses (Peace be Upon Them) are distant relatives of Muhammad (Peace be Upon him), as are all the Prophets (Peace Be Upon Them)
Also what people don’t know is that when Eesaa (the Real Name of Jesus) did not die but was raised to Heaven and will descend back down to Earth and kill Dajjal (the Anti-Christ) and people will become Muslims. Eesaa (Jesus) (peace be upon him) will live and then pass away like all the other Propehts (peace be upon them) and will be Buried next to The Last and Final Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) in Masjidul Madinah, where there is a vacant grave left for Eesaa (Jesus) near the Beloved Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) his Two Close Companions, Abu Bakr and Unar (May Allah’s Blessing be Upon them).

What’s Scary is that Some people are not shown the Right Path and are Blinded by Ignorance forever and will not see the Light, even though all the Proof is in Everything they see, do, Live and in genral the whole Universe is the Proof. It makes me Happy to know that there are people that are shown the Right Path and become Muslims.

With all due respect someone avove said that Bible is all facts ,they should know that Bible is the most edited book in this world and facts are not edited. And also is anyone wondering how many versions of Bible are available ? So its better not to include any religious books in such a list.

Assalaam Alaikum, (May Allah’s peace and blessing be upon you.)

As I read the above list prepared by my brother (Being people of the book) James Chapman I am highly fascinated by the same, or probably so is the purpose of the list. Rather than just passing casual comments whether the list is precise or not, we should rather analyze the list mentioned here to see if the list is farce or actually accurate.

We will take on other books later. Let take the First Book in the list i.e. The Holy Bible.

    1) As James has mentioned here that Bible is the most read book, or so is he made to believe, I would like to know which Bible version is he trying to mention here in his article. As all other books mentioned in the list have only ONE version, so as I am made to believe, bible has ATLEAST 8 different versions.

While there are number of version to the Bible, there are 8 primary versions found in the history.

    1) Ingle – The original book of the prophet Jesus written in Hebrew.
    2) Septuagint – 250 A.D. Written in Greek.
    3) Vulgate- 400 A.D. First version of the Bible which is canonized at the Council of Carthage in 400 A.D. Written in Latin
    4) Luther’s German Bible- 1534 A.D. version.
    5) King James Version- 1611 A.D. This is the most widely used versions however it has large number of ERRORS given that none of the writers had a decent understanding of Hebrew.
    6) Revised Standard Version- 1952 A.D. Literal translation into American English which used the earliest POSSIBLE TEXT.
    7) New International Version- 1960’s & 70’s A.D. This is a very good contemporary English version
    8) The Youngs Literal Translation is as close to the originals as you can get, translated by Robert Young in 1898 A.D. (Questionable as would like to know where did Mr. Robert got his original version to have a version as close to original. And if he had original version of the Bible why did he need to have a version to get close to it?)

Quran has only ONE version. There might be translations of the same in different languages but ONLY ONE version. (would be delighted if someone can prove me wrong on this one)

So if all (practicing) Muslims read only that one version even once a week and at the same rate all of Christians (non-practicing included) read their own version of the Bible at same rate, they will still be reading 1/8th of the times as compared to the Muslims as there are 8 different version of the bible available in the market.

    2) Though I strongly believe that Christianity is the largest religion of the world. I would like to know how many of them are practicing Christians? How many go to the church? Leave alone weekdays even on weekends. Secondly I would also like to know how many of them read the bible (whatever version they believe in) kept on the shelf of their tidy rooms.

On the other hand it is a proven fact that Muslims are the most practicing of the lot (people of the book) and they pray 5 times a day, including reciting of the Quran once a day. (You don’t have to go far, just peep into a local mosque near your house at prayer time and you will find the evidence for yourself).

    3) Islam being the fastest growing religion of the world (proven through various renowned research organizations) the rate of increase in buyer of Quran (Lakhs of prints are distributed for free. Go to Saudi Arabia for evidence) will obviously be higher than the rate of increase in buyers of the Bible (again whatever version they believe in).

    4) Last but not the least. MY brother has missed one important fact that the most read books should also include the most recited books (or the no of times the particular book is recited.) Again you don’t have to go too far. Go to a Madrasa (Islamic Schools and not terrorist training camps, commonly misunderstood notion by the west.) near you and you will find children reciting the Quran over and over again to hifz (memorization) it. Please if you can give me an authentic data on Christians memorizing Bible I would highly appreciate your contribution to this article.

To close this discussion I would just like to add that the James purpose of compiling the list is solved to a large extent as he has gather enough publicity and manage to FACINATE people with such a FACINATING article.

The other books are not worth mentioning about ;)

    4) Luther\’s German Bible- 1534 A.D.
    7) New International Version- 1960\’s & 70\’s A.D.

Well, the holy religious books may be the most published works, but do you all know who the most quoted author of ALL TIME is?

    —-> KARL MARX

And we all know what Marx proposed about religion, right? So, get with the 20th and 21st centuries and out of the dark ages. Religion is only a form of control, whether you are in the West or East. This is the AGE OF REALITY–GET OUT OF ANTIQUITY!!

These above comments are correct ( for their views) i think that if they are making bible as the first most read book so first of all QURAN is the most read book. For the religious purpose . Put aside the religious books then make top 10 most read books.

    That would be BETTER!

All you Christian-Muslim haters out there. If you truly read the Bible or the Quran you would know this list is meaningless. It is one thing of note that the Christian Mormons claim to have printed the Book of Mormon 150 million copies. 145 million of those were in the last 60 years, that would make it the #3 top on this list. Of course the number of sold/printed & number of read differ substantially. I have several Bibles in my families, but only opened twice a year to be read, and have a Muslim friend who has one copy for his whole family & they read daily & share it. My Mormons neighbor also has many copies of the Book of Mormon & he and family reads it much more than any Bible owning Christian I know. Oh and they Mormons read the Bible too, much more than Christians./ Perhaps Muslims should be credited with the amount of time they read their Quran, also due to strict religious laws banning the variety andf volume of books as printed in the West, Christians have the distinct ability to print the most of it\’s Bible so that they can show the world they can print their book, whether they read it or not is different matter. And maybe Mormons with their book & their bible who read more than just the religious word are the most sane. ha ha what a world that would be.

Guys, you should not use bad words for the holy books. Quran and Bible, both are books of God. so respect the both.

Quran is the most recited book, Muslims recite the Quran in prayers, daily, five times. and they recite it on daily basis as well. My father recites it 6/7 hours a day. so you can understand how much devotion it attracts. In the holy Month of Ramzan, we recite it almost 10/20 times more than before.

Bible might be printed millions billions of copies. but its read once or twice per month.Harry potter also printed millions of copies but harry potter will be for the whole season.
Also there are so many versions of the bible so its not the same book which is being read. There is only one version of the Holy Quran,

If you think about it the bible is never actually read from cover to cover by most. If you use logical deduction or reasoning, as the Holy Quran is the most memorized book in the world.
There are millions of people who have memorized it, thus read it from the first word till the last word. There would also be lots of people who have read the Quran from cover to cover just like the bible, but not memorized it.

  86. Jesus Saves
    Posted September 13, 2011 at 2:06 am

The Bible (both Old and New Testaments) was written by 40 different men inspired by God over 2 centuries who spoke with God or lived with Jesus. There are hundreds of prophesies that predicted Jesus Christ. There are thousands and thousands manuscripts (and fragments of manuscripts) of the Bible which pre-date Jesus (Old Testament) and within one generation from Jesus (New Testament). Archeology confirms many of the locations, cultures, and peoples listed in the Bible which man originally did not believe to exist. The first disciples died for their faiths after Jesus was resurrected. If Jesus did not rise from the dead, these first disciples would have known about it and would have devoted the rest of their lives preaching the Good News of Jesus and being tortured to death for a known lie.

The Quran was from one man who said he heard it from an Angel (not even God directly). This event happened 600 years after the life of Jesus Christ. The Bible talks about having at least 2 or more witnesses for confirmation but the Quran only had 1. Many Muslims die for their faith but they do not know if it is really the truth.

I agree that many Christians are not setting a good example as they are called. However, that does not mean that Christianity is false. That just means that many have strayed from the truth.

God has always been a personal God and I believe he wants a personal relationship with each one of us. He created us for that. I believe it is by grace that we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ alone. I believe it is impossible to earn our way to eternal life with God through our own works. Just because people memorize verses or repeat prayers over and over does not mean that you have a personal relationship with God. The Bible talks about people getting caught up in man-made traditions and straying from truly loving God.

I encourage everyone who reads this post to reflect on their relationship with God. Having a relationship with God is like having a relationship with anyone else but you should also include praise and worship. You should talk with Him, listen to Him, spend time alone with Him, be guided by Him, thank Him, worship Him, and praise Him.

The Bible says: “Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”’ Matthew 22:37-40

Therefore, when it says “all of your mind” I understand it to be saying researching the truth to make sure you are convinced (not because someone told you to believe or you grew up in that religion).

I encourage all of you to seek God with all that you have because he says you will find Him.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13

  87. Posted October 14, 2011 at 12:06 am

Are u crazy?? The most read book ever written is QURAN and the most memorized book ever is QURAN.
you should know that if you have done any research at all or maybe you just do not want to acknowledge this. whatever the reason is, this should be corrected as soon as possible.

Bible is purchsed not only by Christians, but non-Christins and Hindus (Like me) to learn about the chaste english language it contains. In fact,I presented a bible to my son too ,when he was admitted into college. So the list ,mentioning Bible as the best sellor is correct and indisputable.

LOL, I find it funny how the Muslim readers always get so upset and run off into pure fantasy.

The Christian Bible has been around in its current form for about 1500 years, the Quran for about 1200 years, and Muslims do recite the Quran far more often than Christians do, but you Muslims are ignoring certain facts.

fact 1 The list is of the NUMBER OF EDITIONS PRINTED. There is no way to estimate how many times a book has been read, that is ridiculous.

Fact 2, The Bible has been in continuous print since the invention of the printing press. The Adoption of the printing press by Muslims were much later.

Fact 3 : Until recently most Muslims were either illiterate or too poor to afford a copy of the Quran, Translations of the Quran are only a recent development and very few non Arabic Muslims understand classical Arabic. So very few Muslims could afford a Quran and even less could actually read it.

Fact 4 Until the last 35 years, very few copies of the Quran were printed and even fewer translated, therefore the upsurge in the printing of Qurans was purely a function of the Saudi Arabian Government mass producing free copies to give away. Prior to this it was not the practice of owning a Quran unless you were either middle class or wealthy, or a scholar or a Mullah.

So the total number of Qurans are still significantly less than the Bible.

    loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool
first of all quraan is not sold, its free
second of all i can get u a handful of christians that actually believe and go to church. but i can get numerous moslems at a mosque
third of all if christians think only believing in jesus would save them then thats some lazy religion that tells ppl to sin. the moslems also believe in jesus, and give him more reputation that christians because they believe he wasnt crucified in such a barbarious way that christians believe, hes too good for a death like that. in islam god speaks to his prophet tellin him there is always room to come back after he sinned and ask for forgiveness and god may forgive him. but that wont be easy, like life is, if u r done a crime u will have to pay for the crime
and people here are arguing because of this list lol, who cares this article is all about opinions for the lack of resources. and obviously if someone red the quraan then they will find out why muslems keep defending the book, and as it says, try to write 2 verses like it, and if u cant then there is your evidence.

lol this list should be for the most edited books of all time hahha.
people here saying so much wrong things about the quran swearin at it and sayin ignorant things when the muslems arent offending the quran. i have a lot of christian friends that say one thing “im supposed to be christian but i dont believe in that s***, im too modest for that” moslems dont say that they say im moslem 4 life. and moslems believe in the bible more than christians believe in jesus lol. and moslems and christians are united hand with hand in palestine that are under occupation from zionists. lol. and finally this list doesnt deserve the quran to be mentioned on it, the quran doesnt need advertisement, people who are meant to read it, they read it, others will stay a minority. in the quran it says respect all religions that came from god and dont discrimante against them because they are still from god regardless, (judaism, chirtianity, islam”..seriously, open your mind people, truth of reality is karl marx nobody reads his book anymore other than just to pass history class which is dead boring haha. and plus when its time u will see who jesus really is, and will u get disappointed? and never compare the books. they are completely different, as of one is true and has more in it than just stories, and the other was edited 764756475674657645 times lol. and the quran doesnt say the earth is flat, it says that the earth is round…the only way to find out is if u read it. and u will see. and in the end keep it to yourself wheather u like it or no…peace

Not only is the Bible the most popular book of all time, in some countries it is book people dream about getting. In places where having the bible in illegal, no one says “I have a bible guys, make sure you count it!” they hide it in secret. There are even more bibles circulating in the world then you think.

There is also also a lot of memorizing going on. You ask almost any Christian what John 3:16 says and they will answer ” for God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son and whoever believes In him shall not perish but have eternal life”

As for all the Muslims reading this, not to be disrespectful but right now there is a movement and over 2000 Muslims are becoming Christians. As a Christian I pray that you guys learn the truth and turn to Jesus.

To all the people that think because Muslims pray five times a day they are religious, I pray through out the day because I can talk to God any time I want! Anyways, Christianity is not a religion, it us a deeper relationship with your creator. If I where you, I would believe it. Because by the time you realize the truth, it might be to late!

God bless you and I pray that he opens up your eyes!
