A World of Great Books: My Favorites

Some of the best authors/books that have stumbled into my sixteen year old life.

I do a lot of independent reading, and I’ve learned that books come in all different shapes, styles, and genres. I don’t really have a favorite genre per say, but I do have a couple of favorite authors and books collected over the years.

My first ever favorite book was A Wrinkle In Time by Madeline L’Engle. I read it at least once a year for seven years or more. I was my favorite until just recently when I decided to opt for more. I first read A Wrinkle In Time in the first grade, and was dazzled by it ever since. I even own the book.

I’ve been reading about three books per week since I’ve gotten to my current school in my freshman year. I’ve found countless wonders on the library shelves, though needless to say I was doubtful when I first saw the tiny library. Sometimes I still am, though my current favorite book rests in it’s shelves today.

Last year, in the unbearable summer heat, I was sitting on the ground in between two of the three shelves in our library that held fiction books when I spotted a book with the prettiest green cover I had ever seen. It looked harmless enough, plus it did seem interesting. I vaguely recalled a friend reading it the year before and promptly checked it out, to return it the very next day. The book was Storm Thief by Chris Wooding, and it was so incredible I simply could not stop reading until a lack of further words forced me to.

My current favorite author is V.C. Andrews. I’ve read her Dollanganger series, her Shooting Stars series, and most of her series’s that have a family last name. She truly never fails to impress, though  would say that the Dollanganger series and My Sweet Audrina were the top of her game.

These are my current favorites, but they’re always subject to change. It’s every reader’s wish to be constantly reading books so moving that their favorites list is never a definite. I’m one of the lucky ones.
