Adam of The Road

This is a summary of the book: Adam of the Road.

Adam of the Road by Elizabeth Gray recounts the boyhood experiences of Adam, son of Roger Quartermayne.  This story takes place in England, during the Dark Ages.  If you like boys loosing their dogs, getting ambushed by robbers, falling off buildings and breaking their heads, and telling tales of non-sense this would be a good read!  What left me awed was the fact that Adam’s life was not easy, but he never gave up!

The story describes the life of minstrels in the 1200s.  In the beginning Adam is at a monastery being educated.  He loves his dog, Nick, and wants to be a minstrel with his dad.  After waiting for him for about 3 years, Roger finally appears and takes Adam with him on the road.  While on the road, Adam’s dog gets stolen, and in an attempt to find his dog, he loses his dad.  In the end, he finds his dad and rescues his dog!  I hope he does, anyway…I haven’t gotten to the end of the book yet.

Adam’s life was not easy, but he never gave up!  It shows that he is not a selfish rich brat kid.  We all have obstacles in our life, and he overcomes his because of his good attitude.  I enjoyed reading about a young minstrel and how he tells his tales.
