At The Bookstore

Jokingly, my mom told me at the dinner table that I should be a sex therapist. Laughing hysterically for several minutes, I am not sure why she said that. I am at the university’s ballroom editing my article with a smirk on my face. Luckily, there is nobody around…

For the past two years, I have been reading numerous books on relationships. I am fascinated by psychology and the human mind. Listen ting to a rock song playing at the university bookstore, I have just grabbed The New York Times Bestseller, A Kiss of Shadows paperback novel by Laure ll K. Hamilton. Enter a thrilling sensual world as threatening as it is beautiful, replete with the consuming passions of immortal beings once worshiped as gods or demons. After reading the preview, I definitely want to read the book.  It’s usually at the bookstore where I always come up with ideas on what to write. But today I am definitely not at Barnes and Nobles reading another one of John Gray’s publications: Why Men are From Mars and Women are From Venus.

Whether you read Why Men Love Bitches or Why Men Marry Bitches, you will find that most of these publications will tell you the same thing. Women should learn to love and value themselves more instead of expecting a man to give them approval. Secondly, it is important to be passionate about something. Third, the majority of guys that I have spoken to are turned off by clingy, needy and possessive women. Eating a late snack today, I couldn’t help but notice a group of girls practically choking a few guys as they kissed them and hugged them. One girl actually wrapped her legs around the guy’s waist as he carried her in the air. Don’t get me wrong, affection is an awesome feeling, but when you are smothering the guy, he tends to feel cornered. Women on the other hand, don’t like guys who are too persistent. Some women might enjoy the attention, but a guy like this gives me that creepy vibe. There’s one at the gym that I go to now. He shows up half an hour before closing time and stands right next to me. Hi, how are you?” he said. Fine, I said as I went back to working out my abs. Last week he asked me what time I was coming to the gym and I said probably in the morning, but never did and decided to work out in the evening instead. I don’t like the idea of people trying to figure me out.  As for men, if clingy and controlling women give you that oh so creepy vibe, what can I say after such an encounter at the gym? I run away from those type of men too.

You are absolutely right, we need to learn to love ourselves before we are ready to have a meaningful relationship with anyone.

At least you can get out of there.Imagine someone comming on to you over and over again and no matter what you say they just wont go away. Then imagine being stuck behind the bar and having to listen to that every day and then be abused by that person when they have too much to drink..What a nightmare..Women get it even worse in this industry..Nice work marlene. As always..
