Comic Review: Batman Arkham City: End Game #2

Batman investigates Harley Quinn and she executes the first stage of her plan.

Harley Quinn’s Revenge is officially out and to celebrate, we have a new issue of ‘End Game’ for us to enjoy by the wonderful Derek Fridolfs.

The first thing I really liked about this issue is that it isn’t a closure story like the first issue was, in this book we are launched into action and get a good look at what Arkham City is like after Hugo Strange’s big plan and the evacuation. Currently, it seems like no one lives there except Harley Quinn who has cooked herself up in the Steel Mill. There are plenty of notable things in this issue such as mentioning people who had appeared in the first game which was Arkham Asylum. We also get more information on The Joker and if he has any plans set in motion for after his death. I am really liking this story because if you think hard enough, you can make the Batman Beyond: Return of The Joker movie canon in your head, ha! I know I complained about the artwork in the last issue, but it has improved for this issue and the action scenes are done really well. The only gripe I have about the art is Batman’s mask. Here it is portrayed as his eyes being visible with a hole cut through the mask. It kind of throws off the flow of the rest of the costume but it’s just my opinion.

Negatives include some plot points not being fully explained (such as Batman’s visit to Arkham City and what he finds) and some art pet peeves some people may have. There wasn’t anything major that I didn’t like since the Arkham City universe is huge and exciting.

I give this 4/5.
