Flaws and Mistakes Made by J.k. Rowling in The Harry Potter Series
There are many flaws made in the Harry Potter Series – Did you find them?
WELL GUYS, YOU WILL HAVE TO AGREE WITH ME THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF UNEXPLAINABLE FLAWS IN THE GREAT HARRY POTTER BOOK.
The Faults are:
HOW COME MOODY SEE THROUGH THE INVISIBILITY CLOAK IN 4TH YEAR WHEN IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ONE OF THE HALLOWS.
HOW COME ALL DA AND ORDER MEMBERS APPARATE INSIDE THE HOG’S HEAD WHEN THE AIR AROUND WAS SUPPOSED TO BECOME THICK AND HARRY WAS NOT ABLE TO DISAPPARATE FROM THERE.
ONE SUPPLEMENTARY , ALSO ON THE SAME NIGHT WHEN CHILDREN WERE EVACUATED FROM HOGWARTS, HOW CAN THEY DIAPPARETE ALL THE CHILDREN (AGAIN THE SAME REASON FOR NOT BEING APPARATING ACCORDING TO ME.)
WHY WAS DUMBLEDORE’S WAND WAS NOT SNAPPED IN TWO WHEN HE WAS BURIED AS IT WAS TRADITION IN WIZARDS TO SNAP THE WAND WHEN ONE WAS BURIED.
also … abt the elder wand !! apparently Draco Disarmed DD n thus the wand’s allegiance shifted to him. but in order it to b Harry’s .. harry needed to Disarm Draco. but i read n reread the 7th bk, n Harry didn’t Disarm Draco … he merely took his wand by force. n we all kno just taking a wand by force will nt shift its allegiance !!!!!!!! then hw come Harry became the elder wand’s tru master ??
There’s one serious flaw in the book….how on earth was nick revived in harry’s second year when ghosts cant eat or drink????And isnt it just too much too assume that no one died a natural death while they had the elder wand???????And also,if harry’s invisibility cloak deflects spells, how was malfoy able to cast the spell on harry in the sixth year??????
Fine Draco won the power of the Elder wand after disarming dumbledore. He did not take the wand by force did he? And still he’s the master of the elder wand. Mcgonaggal got stunned by 5 people, u mean to say none of them got the power of her wand because they never took it forcibly???
The most common one…….Moody ( barty crouch jr) could have turned anything into a portkey and sent Harry to Voldemort much earlier instead of waiting for the final task.
Fred and George did not notice Petter Pettigrew’s name on the marauders map when they had it ??
Instead of catching the hogwarts train to come to Hogwarts, why can parents use side along apparation till Hogsmead to bring their children who don’t have a liscence yet??. Dumbledore used the same with Harry when they went to meet Slughorn.
Neither Sirius nor Lupin told Harry about Snape and lily’s friendship??
Flitwick was stunned by snape in HBP……..hey, snape has power over Flitwick’s wand too
In Beedle the bard it is explained tat, the wizard loses his thinking capability as a human if transfigured to an animal…
- Then in GOF, Krum transformed to a shark (ofcors only head part)…how was he able to think properly?
To apparate and to disapparate one must know the target…atleast they shud hav seen it once…Then when voldy calls all his DE by pressing dark mark, how will they kno the place where voldy is??? how can they apparate to that place?
Liked it
just because said people have control of the wand doesnt mean the owner is unable to use to wand and where did u read that just because u take a wand by force it doesnt switch allegiance tGrindewald stole it from a store window….
the first person to hit her with the stun charm is able to use the wand not all five
moody’s eye is most likely made of extreme forms of dark magic just like the cloak the story of him hiding from death himself is a myth im sure he didnt actually hide away from death he was just an extremely skilled wizard and so is moody
…are you gonna snap dumbledores wand in half cuz im pretty sure if u tried the entire wizarding community would rain down upon u with all their might it also wasnt tradition to be buried on the grounds of Hogwarts ….where is dumbledore buried??
basically my point is to let u kno that i kind of hate u for critizing J.K and the wizarding world and their mistakes …dont be a dick lol

The invisibility cloak can deflect some spells but not all
krum only part transfigured himself therefore could still think
moody (Barty jnr) could have made anything into a portkey but he couldn\’t have Harry dissapear while dumbledre there could be suspicious
Nowhere does it say that the invisibility cloak is undetectable with strong magic
stop being so critical it is a great series
fred and george didnt see peter because they didnt no who he was or that he was dead so it really wasnt out of the ordinary.
they no voldemorts whereabouts because it calls them and the dark mark appears in the sky
they parents dont apparate their children because not all of them are wizards
no one died a natural death with the elder wand cause they bragged when they had it and got themselves killed
snape probably took the spell off of hogsmade so that the kids could safely apparate
stunning someone isnt defeating them
considering that the ghost cant die all he had to do was smell the potion to get better
I didn’t have the urge to continue reading this. I think it’s not really accurate at all. Even the first “flaw” didn’t seem convincing to me!
Okay, so obviously, I went on reading this.
>It could be possible that every parent has the ability to Apparate and Disparate; some may not have been able to pass the exam, or a Squibb, or a Muggle.
>If I am not mistaken, Dumbledore lifted off the spell on Hogwarts that makes it a “dead spot” for Apparating. That was why some were able to do it.
>Things couldn’t be revealed the way we want them to be, especially if it isn’t the same with HOW THE AUTHOR WANTS IT TO BE. Besides, it seems that there were really no possible chances throughout the series (that is, from POA until DH) wherein Harry and Sirius or Lupin could have talked about that matter. They were usually consumed with matters about Voldemort, The Order, and so on.
>It is mentioned that Moody’s MAGICAL EYE can see through the Invisibility Cloak. And although it IS INVISIBLE, it still doesn’t totally serve as a SHIELD.
Oh, what a stupid mistake I’ve done. What I meant to say in the second comment, with the spell stuff, the spell was lifted off by either McGonagall or Flitwick, in the 7th book. How stupid of me to forget that Dumbledore was already deceased be then. HAHA! Anyway, it was Dumbledore who took the spell away, in the 6th book.
really this is ignorant.
even if barty crouch could turn anything into a portkey its more exciting for it to happen at the end of the tournament anyways
the air was too thick for harry to DISAPPERATE but not for others to APPERATE into hogsmeade.
when harry took dracos wand, draco did not have the elder wand
mcgonnagal had a regular wand that was hers.. not the damn elder wand.
it is also pretty possible that sirius and lupin didnt know about snape and lily’s friendship because when they were at hogwarts they werent as close as they were when they were little..
Not all wands switch owners, it was just the Elder Wand. J.K. Rowling never said otherwise. If she had said it for all the wands then Voldemort probably wouldn’t have been able to rise to power, because Harry would have ownership of his wand, seeing as he defeated Voldemort when he was a baby. Sooooo in your face.
There are no flaws in the HP series. Just your reading and writing abilities.
Pay attention at school.
Then to the books.
These are not flaws – these are just things you didn’t understand whilst reading the series.
I recommend you re-read the series.
some of your so called flaws did not even make any sense to me…
-moody waited until the final task because he cant really have harry disappear without reason. besides in the final task., no one could see harry when he touch the portkey and disappears…therefore., no one would be able to stop him for doing so… besides., what kind of a story is that if voldemort came back to life in the beginning of the freakin book??? it wouldnt be a book anymore…
-fred and george prob didnt know who peter pettygrew was., so they wouldnt know that he had died… they prob thought he was just some random student in hogwarts…
-ok., seriously., if you were harry/sirius/lupin and you had freakin voldemort coming back to life and killing you as a problem., would you care to mention that snape and lilly have been friends??? that would be the last thing on your mind!
-there\’s a difference between APPERATE and DISAPPERATE
man., reread the series and maybe try to understand it this time…
Are you serious? This series is amazing. No one can deny this. Don’t be an idiot.
I don’t claim to be an expert but I’m pretty sure Harry’s cloak was never considered to DEFINATELY be a hallow. I’m pretty sure they just suspected it was. You’re full of it. Jealous you will never achieve what J K Rowling did?
After the 12th paragraph, I started getting light-headed, and had to stop and set up a base camp to rest while the Sherpas went ahead to scout out the rest of the post. But after a long nap and some serious re-hydration, I was able to push through and now think that you should learn to spell. Then I may possibly consider rationalising these “flaws”.
you are an idiot my friend, first of all, learn how to type English correctly. Second of all, most of these are mundane or not flaws at all. While it is true that there are flaws they are very little and have no true effect, nor falsify, the story. Stupid little bitch
To those of you who have insulted the author’s grammar, that was very immature and impolite of you. Sure, the author’s grammar was far from perfect, but I was still able to read it.
Anyways, he made a couple of good points. I’m sure he doesn’t hate Harry Potter. He probably loves the series and is observant enough to notice the flaws in the series. Just because you love a book series you should not be blind of its flaws, because no book is written perfectly; not even Harry Potter.
Excuse me, but I think J.K. is awesome. She is clever too. All
those flaws you are talking about are holes in the story. SHE wants
you to use your imagination to correct them. So don’t go dissing
HER about the HP flaws, dis yourself for insulting her online!
P. S. I hope she writes a book about little T. L. (If you haven’t read
the 7th book you don’t know what I’m talking about)
P.P.S. Did you notice that I used proper grammar and spelling?
This is not a flaw at all this is just something I found interesting.
So because of Slughorn always calling Ron the wrong names in the sixth book, but after re-reading the book.. when Harry was going to retrieve the memory from Slughorn.. Slughorn had mentioned the poisoning of Ron saying this,
“Had a house-elf taste every bottle after what happened to your poor friend Rupert.”
Hence Rupert is the name of the actor who plays Ron *wink*
To all of you idiots criticizing this post:
It’s a spoof, okay? Just because you’re trying to find faults in a story doesn’t necessarily mean that you hate it. I, for one, enjoyed the series immensely, but I also enjoyed this post. Because I’m OPEN-MINDED. Since you all seem to like technicalities so much, why don’t I go around pointing out yours? Or some of yours, at least.
phillip (johson?): Grindelwald store the Elder wand, hence securing it in his own possession. That’s how Dumbledore got it eventually. I didn’t understand most of the rest, although I partially agree with you on the five Stunners thing.
Bob: I agree with you on the Krum and Portkey points, but according to the Cloak of Invisibility wiki, “It is resistant to jinxes, hexes, and other spells which would normally damage or otherwise render a normal Invisibility cloak ineffective.” Therefore, it would have probably deflected it.
Gina: The Dark Mark doesn’t appear in the sky whenever Voldemort calls to his Death Eaters. If it did, the Aurors would have no problem finding him. If they’re (the kids) not wizards, then why will they be Apparating in the first place? You’re right on the “ghosts can’t die” part. But that raises two questions. First, how was he able to get Petrified to begin with? Second, how would he be able to smell the Mandrake juice if he’s, well, frozen? I guess that leads to one more question: How can anyone ingest anything when they’re Petrified? (This question is on the Harry Potter wiki as well.)
Sam: Yours seemed pretty sound, except for the one where the author didn’t say it because he/she didn’t want to. That’s exactly why people do this; to see the little things that just might not make sense. We know that it probably can be explained if elaborated on, but we just don’t care that much.
lauren: “It’s more exciting” isn’t really a good reason, you know. For example, it would be a lot more exciting if someone went and, say, blew up a building. But that isn’t really a good excuse for blowing the building up. Draco didn’t have the Elder wand, but it was still technically in his possession.
Nora
: Actually, according to Ollivander, all wands do switch owners. He said so in Deathly Hallows, when they’re at Shell Cottage. So then, it’s back in your face.
anon.: Perhaps you’re the one who should be paying attention in school. Every book has flaws. Most of them just aren’t big, gaping ones. Nobody’s perfect.
Katie: I mostly agree with you, except that I’ve read the series plus almost all of the additional stuff that comes with it, and some of these questions I still can’t figure out. Of course, I’m not perfect, and if you’d like to enlighten me, I’d be most grateful for your input.
nicole: You almost ruined your argument about the Portkey with your last statement. Refer above to lauren’s comment for my reasoning on that. Harry seemed to care that Snape and Lily were friends, regardless of who was trying to kill him and how often.
Elle: The writer never denied that the series is amazing. I’m definitely not. I’m pretty sure, even if it didn’t say, that Harry’s cloak is a Hallow. Ask Rowling, if you’d like. You don’t have to be jealous of someone/something to make fun of it, either.
I am smarter than you: You’ve got a pretty good idea there. You only screwed it up by screwing up the English language almost as bad as the poster did.
HermioneGranger2.0: You formatted the punctuation around the parenthesis wrong. Try double-checking before proclaiming that you’ve used proper grammar and spelling. It was definitely better, although not quite proper.
I doubt anyone’s going to actually read this, but just know that I didn’t mean to offend anyone. Debating’s my best way of letting off steam. I’ve probably killed grammar and spelling, and I didn’t check all of my facts (I did do most). Anyways, it was fun to write, and please know that I really do enjoy the Harry Potter series. I just like sporking it as well.

Dear Moron Who Started This Site,
I’m going to answer all of your lame-ass questions.
1: Moody can see through all cloaks, whether it’s a deathly hollow or not. When did he say that he couldn’t…?
2:The D.A members could apperate because there is no spell preventing you to apperate in hogsmead.
3: The teachers could’ve apperate all of the students out of the school by lifting the spell off of the school, just like it was during the apperation classes.
4:Dumbledores wand wasn’t snapped in half when he died because if it had been there would be no ending to the books…duh.
5: Harry became the master of the elder wand because he took it from draco…period. Stop picking at stupid details.
6: Nick(the ghost) was probably revived naturally. He’s a ghost…i’m sure that he fixed himself because as harry stated a ghost can’t die again.
7: No one died a natural death while in possesion of the elder wand because there was always someone hunting for the wand but no one knew that Grindlewald had it until Dumbledore took it and realized what it was.
8: Harry’s cloak doesn’t deflect spells. Where did you hear that it does?
9: Draco did take dumbledores wand forcibly. He disarmed dumbldore and dumbledores wand was blasted away againts his will.
10: No one got Professor Magonagles wand because they never took it from her they only stunned her. They ran off without taking her wand.
11: If moody made a portkey earlier in the year and sent harry to voldemort the whole story would’ve gone to pieces. JKR planned this out so that voldemort would have time to recover as well as plan his encounter with harry.
12: Fred and george didn’t notice petigrew’s name on the map first of all because they don’t know who petegrew is…he could’ve been any other student, secondly that would ruin the whole book and third, it’s not likely that in the few times they look at the map, they would’ve found petegrew out of thousands of students.
13: The parents don’t use sidealong apperation because you can’t apperate into hogwarts. I suppose you could leave them at hogsmead but stundents under third year aren’t aloud there and what about the muggle born families…the parents aren’t magic. Isn’t the train easier and more organised?
14: Remember that Lupin and sirious didn’t mention how mean james used to be either. Why would you even bother telling that to harry. It isn’t relevent anyways.
15: Snape may have stunned flitwick in HBP but he still didn’t take flitwicks wand or disarm him. Chanches are, flitwick still had his wand when he was stunned.
16: Okay, when you are n animagus and you turn into your animal you still have human thoughts they’re just in an animal’s brain…that’s what confuses the dementors. Also, krum isn’t an animagus, he transfigured his head so he would still be able to think clearly.
17: Okay the finale answer is: When voldemort calls his dementors they can find him no matter where he is. I’m not sure exactly how it works because it is of course magic but the tatoos that every death eater has leads them to voldemort.
Now that I’ve cleared that up with you, please stop picking at these books. It is a fiction story…not real…fake. everything can’t be perfect so just ignore those stupid facts that may not be dead on or could’ve been handled differently, and love these books. JKR is an amazing author who deserves fame and praise…deal with it and I’d like to see you harry haters write a book that would get published, be famous, and have no flaws. Can you do it? Ya…I didn’t think so.
Dear potter fan,
Maybe you feel special because you’re getting a shout out……well, don’t. #1: Your shit talk is shit. #2: You need to chill out and stop being rude. I don’t know if the author of this page is your brother or something but both of you need to stop. You think you’re so smart. Well btw, dumbledore probably did think of using a house elf when he went to voldemorts secret cave, but I recall him campaining against the poor treatmeant of giants and other magical creatures. He was also very helpful to dobby when dobby needed work. I’m sure dumbledore would not want to force an innocent house elf to choke down such a nasty potion. As for Regelus…does it matter how he got out of the cave. He got out didn’t he. Maybe kreature did get him out or maybe creature was in no state to apperate at that time because of the potion. Now please stop being so rude and take your imagination somewhere else if you’re going to bag on JK’s amazing novels and it’s flaws that aren’t flaws.

Most of you are nearly all wrong, you all need to re-read the series alot more, and Regulas never got out of the lake he was pulled under the water by the inferi it says so in the 7th book, yes it says in the book 5 that regulas basically chickened out after a while of being a death eater and was killed, but that was never proven, because they never found the body. He went into the cave with kreature, drank the potion and then needed water, drank from the lake then got dragged beneath the water by the inferi. kreature never rescued him perhaps because he was in such a big state of shock of what was happening to his beloved master.
Also another mistake in the series that nobody seems to have relised, when harry first meets hagrid in book 1. Hagrid tells harry that his mum and dad were head boy and girl when they were at hogwarts but in book 5, lupin and sirius tell harry that lupin was the one made prefect, and james wasn’t. lilly might well have being a prefect or head girl but james wasn’t.
yes there are mistakes made by J.K Rowling but everybody makes mistakes, and the harry potter books are so complex it is remarkable that Rowling made as few mistakes as she did. it is a great series and i loved it.
seriously, did you read the book? sometimes a spark of idea doesn’t anything about you being a genius for thinking all those stuff..i know the book by heart and all you have written is rubbish..doesn’t make sense
hey! re-reading the entire series for probably the tenth time now, and stupid as it may sound, this just struck me- How can the Invisibility Cloak be a deathly hallow ( and it is mentioned in the seventh book that there is no other like it) if Barty Crouch Junior had been hidden under a similiar Invisibility Cloak all through the World Cup and all in the fourth book?
One more- why was Karakoff tried at the Ministry of Magic in England if he was a Bulgarian? Espcially when Krum makes it clear earlier in the book that they ave nothing to do with the English Ministry of Magic?
The real Flaws are in the illusion of the majestic nature of the characters and scenes. The whole series is underwelming and frustrating. I trully wanted Harry to be great, and Voldermort to be astoundingly evil. The world of wizardry was very underused, all we knew about was a few forests, streets and caves. What about the foreign lands? the ancestory? This series is hardly epic, mainly drawn out. Does not equal the lord of the rings or narnia. A great example of the feebleness used is the tri wizard tournament. Why couldnt have there been fifty teams from around the world? And instead of suggesting that dumbledore was great, he could have displayed it in one fantastic battle. The half blood prince wasnt some spectacular character that we all loved, but something more like a passing phrase. I did enjoy the films but they could have been much better and wonderful!
harry potter is a stupid leave a reply
ok the idiot who posted this is a freakin moron pretty much everything you pointed out is wrong. you have no idea what you’re talking about once so ever. who even knows where you got all your information, cuz most of that stuff isn’t even mentioned in the books.
and phil1234 you say the other people commenting don’t know what they are talking about when even you don’t seem to know what you’re talking about either, i’m not sure where you get the first part of your comment but i know the last bit of it is completely false. first of all head of house is different from being a prefect. percy was a prefect in his 6th year at hogwarts and then became head of house in his 7th year.
the only thing i have trouble understanding is if dumbledore in fact knew that he possessed the elder wand. why didn’t he leave it for harry in his will knowing that voldemort would want to take it when he got the chance. just wondering. i know dumbledore probably thought that harry wouldnt need the elder wand and that harry had all he needed to defeat voldemort without it but im just curious as to why he could leave it for harry even if it was just something to remember him by.

we believe what we want to believe. and we can be blinded by this. love isn’t blind, it sees but it doesn’t mind.
Okay, first of all, wands don’t change allegiance every time some one is disarmed or beat in a duel. All wands CAN change allegiance but they don’t always. And the elder wand works differently than other wands do.
The kids could apparate out of Hogsmead in the 7th book because the charm that kept Harry from dissapparating was only placed out on the streets, and they would all be able to apparate in and out of Aberforth’s bar. Also, there are no death eaters there anymore because they would all be with Voldemort at the castle to fight, so the kids could have easily traveled on foot outside of Hogsmead and then disapparate.
Also, Dumblebore could not give Harry the Elder wand because he would then have to tell Harry about the Hallows, which he explained in the 7th book, he did not want to do.
Nobody should be insulting J.K. Rowling because I’m sure nobody on this wall could write a 7 book series with so many intricate details that work together and make sense. J.K. Rowling’s books are amazing and intriguing and if you would read the books more thoroughly and actually try to understand what you were reading, not just say its wrong you would realize that the Harry Potter books have little to no flaws.
Dear All
the best thing of these long comments does mean we all read re-read and tried to realize or analyze the book. That is the success of the author.Even God has oppositions. So cheer up all.
I honestly do not think you are being as some people commented, “overly-critical” or “ignorant” at all.
Rather, you have an extremely sharp eye for detecting flaws and mistakes in the series many of us would have missed completely. I think JK Rowling would be happy to know that readers are actually dissecting and analysing her books instead of being passively absorbing whatever information or content she offers. I mean, “active digestion” in a literary perspective is what most serious authors would crave for when they write and publish books.
After all, JK Rowling is also human and as vulnerable to making mistakes and you and I. Those who try to insulate Rowling against people who are keen enough to spot errors should embrace the fact that everyone is infallible. Though Rowling deserves utmost credit too for the magically-brilliant series of her own confabulation.
Cheers to Rowling and all Potterheads!!!
Sorry, it’s supposed to be “everyone is ***FALLIBLE”. Made a mistake too. How fitting.
