Perfume Analysis
Analysis to an expert of the story “Perfume”…
The woman in the story “Perfume” by Patrick Suskind lives in a poor broken down city where death is so common here that people mingle with corpse more often than the living. People began to see other people not as humans, but just another animal. Growing up in this environment she cannot be held responsible for her actions. People and morals grow and develope according to their surrounding environment, if someone was to grow up in a rich city where food and shelter is abundant, he/she will grow up with certain morals. But put a person in a situation where sanitation is a luxury and everyday a battle to survive, the person begins to push social reputation and morals to the back of their list of importance and do anything to survive. They eventually reach a point where they no longer can discern right from wrong and morals are entirely different than the person with a decent lifestyle. In Paris, the woman had reached this point in her life. The woman cannot be morally wrong because to her, this was not considered to be wrong. One can only be morally wrong if they grow up and learn what is considered to be right and wrong, and do a wrong while they know that it is wrong.
