Quite Possibly The Best Fantasy Book Series for Years to Come

For years now, people have raved about the wizard boy and his battle with an omnipotent, evil sorcerer in a fantasy world, rich with enchantment, suspense, and danger. Could Harry Potter be the most memorable character of all-time?

Making it as a writer is very tough.  It takes passion, persistence, and a knack to describe the most mundane objects into fascinating, mesmerizing ones.  But for one British author, it all started with a four-hour-delayed train trip from Manchester to London, where the idea for a story of a young boy attending a school of wizardry “came fully formed” into her mind[1].  Surely, no one ever imagined that the multi-millionaire writer of the famous “Harry Potter” series had been homeless and living off of welfare, sleeping in the comfort of her car for several days before reaching acclaimed stardom.

The author is named Joanne “Jo” Murray, also known under the pen name J.K. Rowling.  She has won multiple awards and her Harry Potter books, which now total 7, have sold more than 400 million copies, while her movies have broken countless records such as all-time opening weekend worldwide sales as seen on http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/.  And this is just the beginning.  Florida residents are now much anticipating the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Orlando, which will open in spring 2010.  The new addition will comprise of 3 attractions: the “Dragon Challenge” rollercoaster, “Flight of the Hippogriff” coaster, and the “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” attraction set in Hogwarts Castle.  Furthermore, Jacksonville, FL, boasts a number of parties, events, and moonlight movies associated with the releases of the newest Harry Potter books and movies.  For example, on July 21, 2009 The South Branch Library recreated a Harry Potter “world” in celebration of the newest book release, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Book 7).  Children would enter and draw a card from a witch’s hat that will determine which “house” they belong to, just like the movies.  Then, the children play interactive games and explore the “magic” of Hogwarts.

Currently, Time Warner is working on the last two Harry Potter movies to end the fantastic series.  The two are set to be released in November 2010 and July 2011.  J.K. Rowling continues to support a wide number of charities, including the Volant Charitable Trust, Gingerbread, and others.  Her fan base is eager to know what J.K Rowling is “rolling” up her sleeve next.  The world awaits…
