I attended a seminar conducted by a Christian organization named Youth Gospel Center. This seminar is about a well- known book entitled The Secret, which is created by Rhonda Byrne. The guest speaker of the said seminar is Pastor Jun Divierte, a pastor of Victory-Alabang. Ronda Byrne is a known author and for her New Age belief. The Christians considered her published book distort the teachings of the gospel. But, the author stressed out that the small percentage of the world population know the principles of The Secret so they become successful in any kind of fields. And, in my own opinion, she is absolutely right. Before I am going to continue my statement, I would like to clarify to the readers that I am not a lost sheep of this Christian organization.

The book entitled The Secret is teaching the readers about the law of attraction. Its principles states “Whatever mind can conceive, it can achieve.” And, I think that the creator is right. If a man has a full motivation to get what he needs, he can get it. Look at the leading gold medalists of Beijing Olympics 2008! Do they have enough motivation to get their glory?

My Opinion Regards Three Categories of Life Issues

1. Money

   It has to be a magnetic energy, which represents our thoughts and emotions. Everbody needs money as an exchange of commodity. The economic condition in the Philippines is not good. It is practical if we work hard to gain income for a living. It is also practical if we are earning extra income that is legal. We do not need to be greedy to gain income to survive. All we need to see in this poor situation is positivity.

2. Relationships

   The way you treat yourself is the way you treat others. You learn to love yourself first before you are able to enjoy a commitment in a relationship. You have to be confident on yourself and know how to gain respect on yourself first. Your ideal person would be the reflection of you own thoughts. But, in God’s time, you can meet your ideal person. If you like someone and wanted to be his/her friend, you can be his/her friend. But, do not lost heart if the two of you are not meant to be as lifetime partners. God has plans for you.

3. Health

   If you are a health conscious, you will be healthy because you eat right and exercise regularly. Stay positive always. If we are hurt of past issues, we should free ourselves from resentment for the sake of mental health. We should not speak illness to anyone.

I acknowledge I have confidence in God and confidence with my own strength and will. I know God’s love is unconditional, and God is gracious and merciful. But, we are intellectual beings created by God so we should use our gifts. We are also exposed to good teachings. Therefore, in the conclusion of this book, it is our choice to be good or bad.
