Summer of Secrets
She is dealing with all this by herself, no one seems to understand her pain.
“Darcy, are you all right? Your eyes…are you crying?” “No,” she said firmly, rubbing her eyes, feeling the moisture in her hands. “I’m just tired, that’s all. I need to get to bed.” Darcy left Jamee and headed to her bedroom, dreading the night to come. The panic and night sweats would be back. Darcy could feel them coming on like a bad fever. “Summer of secrets” by Paul Langan is a book about pain, tears, secrets, lies, and loneliness.
The matter of trust is about a girl by the name of Darcy Wills who is going through a lot at both school and home. Her parents are always fighting and arguing, Her boyfriend has moved far away to Detroit, her grandma recently passed away and a secret that she been keeping that a boy name Brian was sexually going to far. She is dealing with all this by herself, no one seems to understand her pain. The only people she really has are her friends Tarah, Hakeem, Cooper and her older sister Jamee. However towards the end things begin to get better her mom becomes pregnant and her family gets better and become closer, and now everything is going good for Darcy, her friends and her family.
On a scale from 1-5, I would give this book a 5. This was a great storyline and it was very truthful. These books are real because it touches on a lot of things that society is going through. They speak on many topics. Bluford high school is just like an average high school full of drama, clicks, popularity, boyfriends, e.t.c.
Overall I would recommend this book to all readers. If you like a page-turner and deals with “Real World” subjects this book would be a great book to read.
