Superhero or Vigilantly: Which is Better?

They’re kind of the same, but kind of different.

The moment you declare yourself a superhero with powers of varying usefulness, you’ll doom yourself for everyone to assume you’re a totally unambiguous good guy, who is destined to do anything for their defenceless public—in terms of saving them from varying fuck ups that might come about on the average day (tornadoes, floods, collapsing buildings or some super villain who has the unintentional intent of ruining your day). Sure, having the whole sense of achievement does something to boast your ego a few notches, but I wouldn’t want to see myself as a hero for one simple reason—you’re not allowed to go between the black and whites lines of what you’re meant to be.

You can’t kill, you can’t make money from it—unless you’re willing to sell yourself out beyond the very boundaries of your dignity—because you’re a hero and your services are a given and not priced, which creates the situation that you might become tempted to make someone you’re saving suffer, but NO! You shall not kill someone who annoys you (regardless of what power you wield to make them pay accordingly).

So I suggest a simple solution to get around the moral infested superhero title. Go about with a title of vigilante, sounds less certain to what you’re capable of and breaks apart the many issues surrounding the title of superhero. Calling yourself a vigilante removes a lot of the moral issues surrounding superhero: you’re free to kill, to charge for your services (personal preference) and you can go between robbing banks and saving people at a whim (another personal preference).

There’s a lot to go with being a vigilante: the lack of moral restraint as to how to handle any given situation and you could easily skip a few days to relax—no responsibility when you’re a vigilante living on the edge. People might want to kick your arse to the moon and back, but what the hell! You’re the one with the advantage of whatever superpower that you might possess. I think this article is leaning towards vigilantes—totally vigilantes.

Thought of the Day: October 8th:

Considering to take a few days off from writing articles on Triond—works becoming a little more stressful this year and I need all the time I can spare for it. It’s annoying when I can’t find anyone to answer me.
