The article I read was detector dogs to the rescue. The author of this article was Diane Morgan. The source was from the beagles magazine. Sadly I could not find the date of this article. In it I learned that there is a highly trained group of beagles that detect if people are smuggling illegal plants into America they are called the beagle brigade. They use their keen sense of smell to detect any faint or diluted smell is coming from the bag. This is something even high tech machinery can’t detect plus they love doing it for the fun and the food. The way science is related to this is because the odors from the plants a smelled by the beagles. This is important because some immigrants try to bring in bad/illegal plants which could damage our Eco system. The thing that surprised me in this article was that there was a team of beagles that detect illegal plants. It was also surprising that they were beagles because I have a beagle and he is very intelligent and it would be cool to teach him things like this.
