Paul Steward and Chris Riddell’s Edge Chronicles consists of 13 Fantasy-Adventure type books for

children.

The books are Divided into three different Sagas; The Quint Saga, The Twig Saga and The Rook Saga. Although they follow three main characters through their stories, all of the books are set on ‘The Edge’.

The Edge consists of: Undertown (a giant city), The mire (a giant swamp of mud), The deepwoods (a vast forest), Sanctaphrax (A city of scholars on a giant floating rock).

Edge Chronicles Creatures

Paul Steward and Chris Riddell created many types of creature for this series of books. Here are the Main ones:

Goblins- They live in the goblin nations,  a series of Glades in the deepwoods and are Rivals of Shrykes

• Hammerhead and Flat-Head… Strong warriors. (soldiers)
• Gnokgoblins and Gylegoblins… Small, but they work in colonies (foragers)
• Low belly Goblins- Produce all the food for the goblin Nations (farmers)
• Tusked and Lop-Ear- Fighters, but smaller and faster than Hammerhead and Flat-Head Goblins
• Grey Goblins- They are the best Archers of the Goblins Nations.
• Long Haired- The Axe soldiers of the Goblin Nations

Undertowners They are all creatures of the Deepwoods, that have settled in Undertown.

Scholars These people commit their lives to the quest for knowledge

The Quint Saga

The Quint Saga follows the story of a young Sky Pirate named Quint ‘Cloud Wolf’ who falls in love with  the Most High Academe (Mayor) of Sanctaphrax’s daughter. He has a son, but is forced to abandon him in a deepwoods settlement after his sky-ship crashes.

The Twig Saga

Twig is the son of Cloud wolf, although he doesn’t know it. He grows up in a deepwoods village, and eventually becomes the greatest Sky Pirate ever! He makes it to riversse

The Rook Saga

The Rook saga follows the story of rook barkwater- a librarian knight in the second age of flight (when flight stones have lost their buoyancy). He cannot remember anything of his life as a child in the deepwoods. He was Rescued by Varis Lodd (a legendary librarian knight) and left in the Library sewers beneath Undertown. He is unexpectedly picked to become a librarian Knight, he goes into the deepwoods and writes a scroll about banderbears. Whilst he is learning about banderbears, he encounters Captain Twig. (His grandfather, although he doesn’t know it)
