There are a couple of great books about horses that are out right. I recommend an older one as well.

First, The Soul of the Horse by Joe Camp challenges conventional wisdom. It is a great read. It has beautiful pictures. you feel like you are a member of the herd.

Secondly,Hoof Prints More Stories From Proud Spiritby Melanie Bowles is a wonder sequel to Stories of Proud Spirit. The new book has some great stories on horse behavior and you will see the power of love and friendship in this boo. Go Sherri because if you as the reader do not cry than there is something wrong with you.

Finally, You have to go back a few years but read The Halo and Beyond the Anatomy of Recovery by Maxine Kumin. A beautiful woman and her horse who both survived a horrific accident. This is a better story than the Horse Whisper because there is no nasty sex involved. it is just a good and clean read. Strength,courage,hope and the bond between man and horse are its’ underlying themes.

Yes there are some great horse reads out that all horseman will love. Even people who have never love a horse or world in a field, pasture or barn should read these fines pieces of art.
