THE KAMA SUTRA

Next to The Mahabharata, India’s longest poem and most famous classical literature masterpiece, The Kama Sutra is the second most famous piece of literature in India. This long poem is 1,250 lines long and written in Sanskrit, by the Indian poet and writer, Mallanaga Vatsyayana. The long Indian poem goes into vivid and pornographic detail the ways to have the best sex, including sex positions for the best effect. It was published in the year 200 in India.

In traditional Indian culture, pleasure is defined as being manifested in these four principles called the purusharthas:

1. Dharma: Virtuous living.
2. Artha: Material prosperity.
3. Kama: Aesthetic and erotic pleasure
4. Moksha: Liberation.
