The Pinballs
Betsey Byers.
The main characters in this book are three foster children. Harvey has been sad since his mom moved away. He has 2 broken legs because his father, who is an alcoholic, accidentally ran him down with the car. Thomas’s life has been changed since his elderly guardians, who raised him after he was abandoned, were no longer able to take care of him. Carlie was an abused girl who had a terrible home life and did not get along with her parents. They all try to help each other through their hard times and work together to find solutions to their problems.
From this book, I learned that it is very important to appreciate what I have. Not everybody has a good parents and a happy home life. A book like this made me realize how lucky I am to have a family who cares about me.
