The opening is not very effective because it gave lots of unnecessary information like he was the first to drive a convertible and now he walks everywhere. You don’t really get the hint at what is going to happen at the end until you have finished read it or read it again.

Before Stephen went to the war he was nice caring and funny but after the war he just was not the same. He wouldn’t sit still, he was more violent and he had totally changed for the worst until just moments before he died.

After Stephen got back Marty and Stephen didn’t really get along to well so Marty started trying to get Stephen’s attention by trashing the car and doing mischievous things like unplugging the TV. After that they didn’t really talk to each other like they had before Stephen went to the war again until just moments before he died.
