The Sometimes Exciting Life of a Book
Have you ever thought about the life of a book? Books are our silent friends, when we think of one we pick it up and then read it. The rest of the time they sit patiently waiting for us to look their way and take interest in what they have to say.
Have You Ever Thought What Sort of Life a Book Has to Lead?
Books, they are everywhere you look no matter where you go you will see a book. Books are an integral part of our everyday lives. Even if you don’t read much you will have a selection of books in your house either in a bookcase, on a shelf, in the kitchen or piled up on the floor.
We often use words in our lives such as; ‘an open book’ or ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ these terms have meanings that are more about our way of life than actually having anything to do with books.
Books are our silent friends, when we think of one we pick it up and then read it. The rest of the time they sit patiently waiting for us to look their way and take interest in what they have to say.
So take this journey with me and explore the sometimes exciting life of a book and maybe then you will want to have one of them as your silent friend.
Like the young ladies at a local dance they sit on the shelf waiting to be picked up only to watch one of their close companions get picked and taken instead.
They can be ornaments, part of the décor or a focal point feature.
Some are looked at by many, whereas others only get a second glance and some not at all.
There are those that are judged by their cover without finding out what may be inside.
Some will dress in elegant attire, whereas others can only afford a basic covering.
There are those that get constant attention, whereas many others just gather dust.
Many present themselves in a colourful way; others are drab without life and some are dark and sinister in appearance.
They are created in all different shapes and sizes, but have an easily recognisable look.
Whether side by side or piled on top of each other they all have their own place.
Either making history, sharing knowledge or with words that are just fictional they all have something to say.
Filled with interests such as; romance, war, sport, politics, humour and just about anything else that can be imagined.
A select few are treasured and will never be removed from their place of great esteem.
Some will finish up with celebrities and are then constantly talked about by everyone.
A few rise to the heights of acclaim, but many take the path to obscurity.
Then there are those that are seen over and over again and will never be put aside.
Certain ones get treated badly or even cremated, because of the beliefs of others.
You know, the sometimes exciting life of a book is not that much unlike ours really.

I love books! Can’t get enough of them. Nice article, I hope that ebooks and kindle never replace the real books. Nothing like going thru the pages and the smell of a book.
I love books as well! I must have a lot of silent friends
And I agree with the comment above and hope ebooks never replace the real books.
