The Top Five Best-selling Novels
A list of the best five novels of all time.
The Top Five Best-selling Novels
1) Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, 1997.
No one wasnt a part of the Harry Potter fad that started about a decade ago and still hasnt ended until now. I personally found the Philosopher’s Stone in particular to be a bad book, but god, by the time i reached the seventh book i loved the series.
Global Estimated sales: 120,000,000.
2) And Then There Were None, 1939.
A terrific psychological thriller. The art here comes not just from one of the most twisted stories a book can tell, but from the fact that this book was written in 1939! The author of this book must have genuinely been one intelligent person to have the ability to write a book that our psychologically tuned generation may still call a psychological thriller.
Estimated sales: 115,000,000.
3) The Lord of the Rings, 1954.
The books on this list are inevitably part of a long successful series, because if you loved this book, then you also went and bought the rest.
Estimated Sales: 100,000,000.
4) Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, 1998.
Again, when i was reading these books i didn’t find them all that interesting up until around the fifth Harry Potter installment. The chamber of secrets is well written, and with a good story, but i’m convinced that J.K Rowling was aiming for a younger age-range.
Estimated sales: 77,000,000.
5) Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, 2000.
This is where it all began coming together into a beautiful series. Harry potter books were now aimed at older age groups, and the thing is, that the characters seemed to grow up with you. Thats the secret to Rowling’s success. She made sure that the first book was aimed and youngsters, who would grow up as Harry grew up, and would hopefully spend their time reading her books.
Estimated sales: 66,000,000.
