Top 10 Fiction Books of 2008

Which author sold the most books in the fiction genre in 2008? Have you read one or more of these, or have you never heard of them?

Keep in mind this list is based on sales, not my personal opinion. With that being said, here is the top 10 list of the best selling books of fiction for 2008:

One of the most popular genres of books is of course fiction books. We like them because they can be partially made up of real facts, but the storyline is fictional. We know the people who die in these books are just characters and nothing more, unlike non-fiction, where we know they are dead, so it is hard reading those, not impossible though.

  1. 2666 by Roberto Bolaño
  2. Lush Life by Richard Price
  3. American Wife by Curtis Sittenfeld
  4. Anathem by Neal Stephenson
  5. Unaccustomed Earth Jhumpa Lahiri
  6. Personal Days by Ed Park
  7. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows
  8. When Will There Be Good News? by Kate Atkinson
  9. The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
  10. The Widows of Eastwick by John Updike

There are some author’s who are surprising missing from the Top 10 and this list includes a book by an author I mistaking thought was dead, but I am not telling which one. However, I have honestly never heard of ten of these authors, and am surprised by the absence of some our more notable authors. Anyone else surprised by this list?
