Top Chuck Palahniuk Novels

Top five novels written by Chuck Palahniuk.

  1. Fight Club -  Being of course the most successful book he has written, and a massive hit film adaption Fight Club comes in number one.  Rebellion, hatred of mass consumption, and fistfights : what else could you want and identify with?
  2. Rant -  Rant was a departure from the normal Palahniuk style, and the first time he sort of delved into the Science Fiction realm.  Rant Casey is a superspreader of the rabies virus, and presumably the offspring of a time traveler.  The style of writing is unique as the story is told second-hand from several sources and pieced together.  If you are left confused by the novel, don’t be worried.. Palahniuk has said there are two to three more novels coming based on Rant Casey.
  3. Survivor -  Attention from the novel and the film that was to be made of it died down after the 9/11 attacks.  Survivor is a story told backwards on a tape recorder of a plane’s blackbox.  Memorable parts:  strange Amish cults, living in prefab houses in route to their new destinations, and an assisted suicide hotline.
  4. Lullaby -  Lullaby reads sort of like a supernatural detective.  The main character stumbles upon a Culling Song that soon begins to spiral out of control.  At the slightest annoyance he often has trouble not thinking the Culling Song and killing people around him.  He sets off with a strange cast of characters to find and destroy every copy of the children’s book that he found the culling song within.
  5. Invisible Monsters –  Palahniuk’s first novel, Invisible Monsters is full of twists and turns.  Siblings separated at birth.  People having sex changes, once or maybe twice?  Slipping your friend hormone pills while on the road.  Though not the best of his novels, it is certainly interesting.
