There are many different authors and themes of American literature from many different time periods and cultures. A theme that will be very important is during the colonial time period. During the colonial time period there were many authors who wrote about fighting Native Americans, wanting land, and needing food. These were a few of the many conflicts during that time period. Usually whatever is going on during the time period is what non-fiction authors will write about. Another theme would be wars and battles. There have been numerous battles to get America to what it is today. The author’s social status would most likely have an effect on the content of the story. If the author was extremely rich and famous their life would be easier than the life of a soldier or slave. Their hardships would also change drastically. There are also a lot of other themes such as love, hate, death, life, and opinion. This just goes to prove that there are many factors that affect what the author will write about.
