Why I Will Never Read Twilight

… and why you should never read it either.

For those who don’t know Twilight is a vampire novel by Stephanie Myer and is apparently very popular among young people. As a young person myself who is into well written books I know that Twilight is one of those books which gets far too much credit than it deserves. While Paolini’s Inheritance Cycle may have many flaws for a book of its praise; Twilight is the the the example of a bad book being praised to the extreme.

I admit to have never read the Twilight series of books but from various reviews one can see that there are many better books to read. A proper book review does not praise the book for being interesting or for having characters which look good (it’s a book so I don’t even know how people know what these characters look like), but they instead criticize the book for it good and its bad without telling people what to expect in the story.

The hype over this story is in my opinion another reason to not read the book. After all if everyone else has read it how are you supposed the be the person to recommend a book to your friend. Its books like these which take the fun out of sharing awesome stories.

Going back to the reviews, these tell me that the author has no care in the world about grammar in there stories. Also it presents an unrealistic view of what tradition is. Traditional grammar contains punctuation and grammar in the proper places. Proper reviews should not and do not make up phrases like “SPARKLY VAMPIRES” and call characters cute.

So as I said before I have never read Twilight or the Twilight series, but from the way reviews are written about this book I’ll wait for the next “Harry Potter” like book to come out. Until then I’ll stick to the alleyways of lesser known works of literature. They may even teach the truth about life, the universe, and everything.

sigh. I will never understand the people who decide NOT to read a book because every review they’ve read on the book say it is a good book. I’m not someone who reads every book that gets a good review or because everyone else is reading it.

But I think you should, at the least, read a book before you tell other people not to read it. Firstly, at least you would have an informed opinion. And secondly, who knows maybe you might actually like it?

I have read the book and was not very impressed. I do understand the popularity among 14-15 year-old girls. It is not a classic, but it has its spot in pop-culture history.

As with anything…it is really a personal opinion matter and what interests you as a person. If your not in to make believe characters and using your imagination to see how “good” a character looks, then no Twilight is not for you. However, a good read to one person is not always going to be a good read to someone else. Half the stuff I blog about is probably crap to everyone. Does that mean that I am an unskilled writer and should stop? No! And that is the beautiful thing about this world, we all have our own opinions and values and that makes the world go round! You actually make me want to blog about this….

The movie sucks but I love the books. Worth reading. I don’t know. Maybe I just don’t care about the grammar or I just didn’t noticed? Nice review though:)

i hated the movie [i had to watch it in school]. i will never read the book either. i hate that every girl in my school on their facebook pages have these annoying Twilight bumper stickers. i don’t even think the girls at my school even care about actual vampire novels such as anything written by Anne Rice. i hate teen-fiction because they’re not usually written so well. Twilight is marketed and i believe that is why it is so popular and people hear how great it is and that they should read it too, and then they do. i think they’re just all getting brain-washed. well, if you like Twilight, then i have nothing against you, i just have pity for you.

You should read the book before you decide its bad just because you would like to be different. Twilight has its flaws but it captures you.

You were reviewed by Victoria Wright writers critic.

    You recieved 4 stars.

this brings up some very good points of the book. How ever even when a book gets the reviews it does and the popularity it does it should not be treated lightly. many, many people enjoy these books. and the movies. While i hate the movie personaly. The books where not as bad as this critic makes them out to be. Also he lacks the knowledge of the book to be an amazing review.Because as I said this artical has it’s points the lack of actually reading the books takes out all of the credibility from this. Now if he where to read the books then still have the same opinion about the book then kudos to you congrats I fully ecept your opinion. But untell this happens this is just a review with no iformation backing it.

Traditional grammar contains punctuation and grammar in the proper places. I ll not point out the misspells and misuses.

You know what I hate? People who pretend to be well read when they re actually not. I read everything, of all genres, and in doing so automatically pick up proper grammar. The classics are not limited to their proper punctuation and to insinuate such shows your ignorance. If I read a review at either end of the emotional scale I feel I must read it just to form my own knowledgeable opinion. I read 2-3 books a week and have read Twilight, along with Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, To Kill a Mockingbird and Without Remorse along with many, many others. I have probably forgotten more books than you will ever read. I loved the books and will defend them against morons who think that the only good read has to be boring. The next time you post a review trashing someone s use of grammar, I suggest you make sure your own is correct.
