Book Review: Alex Rider Series

A review of the Alex Rider series written by Anthony Horowitz.

The Alex Rider series is an amazing series for young adult written by Anthony Horowitz. It is an action packed series with loads of adventure. There are 7 books in the series: Stormbreaker, Point Blank, Skeleton Key, Eagle Strike, Scorpia, Ark Angel, and Snakehead. Alex Rider is a 14-year-old boy from England. His father and mother had died and was living with his uncle Ian Rider, until he was killed. But, what Alex didn’t know was that his father and uncle were MI6 operatives. They were both killed on purpose and he was to take over their positions. His uncle raised him his entire life until he was shot. Alex now lives with his husekeeper Jack Starbright. Throughout the series, Alex goes on dangerous missions all around the world. He works for MI6, the CIA, and the Australian Intelligence Agency. People recognize that Horowitz wants Alex to be like a junior James Bond. And he does a magnificent job of it. This book is great for young adults that want to keep on reading and never book a book down. This series is sold almost anywhere and is a blast of adventure and action.

Agreed, this is an excellent series as far as I’ve seen it. I’ve only read SNAKEHEAD of the original novels, but the graphic novels for STORMBREAKER and POINT BLANC are outstanding, and of course there’s the movie on DVD, ALEX RIDER: OPERATION STORMBREAKER. The actor who played Alex Rider, Alex Pettyfer, was hand-picked by the author and IMO does a first-rate job. (He also makes an excellent match, independently, for my own fictional protagonist – as featured here on Triond – but that’s a different story!)
