Books and Road Trips
Inspired by a writing prompt I found Online, what books would you take on a trip?
Dear readers,
Earlier tonight I read a writing prompt that asked what sort of reading material I would take on a long road trip to pass the time. The books that I enjoy reading vary in subject matter from biographies to novels, but if I was to take a long road trip I would probably take a collection of short stories. Either that or I might read newspapers (although that would be rare).
Some of my favorite subjects to read about are history, biography, arts and music. Years ago when I used to go to San Antonio for appointments the books I would take with me for reading were such books as The Swiss Family Robinson, and Sherlock Holmes. I love adventure stories as well, one story I remember reading was “the speckled band”.
These are just a few of the kind of stories and books that I would take with me on a road trip. So I ask you my Dear readers what sort of books would you take on a road trip?
Feedback more than welcome as usual.
Thank you all for reading and God bless.

I usually take a bible, a sudoku puzzle book, crosswords, and material describing where I’m going – historical, archaeologicel, etc.
As well as the Bible I always like to take something big that will engross me and transport me elsewhere, somkething like Dostoyevsky.
C.S. Lewis books, esp Chronicles of Narnia, a kids series, but totally awesome!
The stranger Albert Camus
The sound and the fury William Faulkner
A portrait of the artist as a young man James Joyce
The Satanic Verses Salman Rushdie
Midnights Children Salman Rushdie
Hey J.M. no offence to you personally, but why the last 2 books you mentioned? S.R. was disturbed IMO
Because Salman Rushdie is a brilliant authour.
