Eldest
The book "Eldest" is the second book in the Inheritance series. This is one of my favorite books of all time.
A book is supposed to excite the reader and make them want to read more. Eldest is that kind of book. Eldest is the sequel to the book Eragon. The author of Eldest is Christopher Paolini. It takes place in a magical, but not even close to friendly deathtrap of a world. It is set in a medieval-like time when there were no guns or electricity and wars were fought with swords, shields, and stuff like that. The land is called Alagaesia.
Eragon is a Dragon Rider, and the last one. A Dragon Rider is a person that a dragon picks to be there rider and has control over them. Eragon’s dragon’s name is Saphira. Brom was his teacher that died in the first book. Murtagh is Eragon’s friend that dies at the beginning of the book. Arya is an elf that Eragon saved in the first book. Although Eragon has many friends he also has many enemies. The most hated would be the king of Alagaesia that killed of the Dragon Riders and wants to capture Eragon and Saphira and have then serve him. His name is Galbatorix.
Eragon must travel to the forbidden woods of the elvish homeland called Du Weldenvarden. There he must train to become stronger in magic and strength. He goes there after a war with the Urgals that are under the command of the king Galbatorix. There they almost defeat the Varden. The Varden is a group of people that is the last resistance against the king. After a fight with a powerful shade that he defeats the Urgals all kill each other. But Eragon is hurt and it is clear that he needs more training. In Du Weldenvarden Eragon learns many things and has many adventures. But soon a chain of events happen that actually ends up Eragon becoming one of the most powerful things in Alagaesia and being half elf.
There really is no theme to this story. All its pretty much about is dying, killing, and death. Though there might be a theme hidden deep some were in this book. The theme is probably “Be prepared to lose the things closest to you because it will happen some day”. All that means is that say that you have a dog and it dies. You have to be prepared so you will get over it and move on.
