All That Glitters is Not Gold

A reflection on how many are blinded by beauty and how the words of Tolstoy rings true even are the centuries.

What a strange illusion it is to suppose that beauty is goodness.

Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910

And how true those words are!!!

All that glitters in not gold even after centuries

all the shimmers is not silver

all that is shining is not gems

and so, all that are a feast to the eyes

are not the worthiest or the best.

Many a times, the most beautiful of things may hide our worst  fears. Taking an example from the nature, the Venus fly tap; a very beautiful flower, yet deadly to the little insects. Or the golden dart frogs, glimmering and shining with a beautiful, moist, golden skin, yet just a simple touch can easily bring any man even in good health to death!! I’m sure you’ve heard of “Don’t judge the book by the cover”. Of course you have! Who hasn’t? Well, it seems beauty is that cover which hide the possible dangers within.

So, mind your choices! Choose your man carefully. Don’t go by the looks, the books or the rules! Find for yourself what the mask hides behind, a beauty or the beast? Remember, beauty is not all that matters, its the character of a person which hits the mark.
