Analysis of F. Scott Fitzgerald
This is analysis of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s character, Nick Carraway, from The Great Gatsby.
Nick Carraway, the main character and narrator of The Great Gatsby, is somewhat ambiguously characterized. Even his bond business is vaguely described when he responds to Tom’s question by simply stating “I told him (the name of the business).”
He is modest and although he is somewhat innately critical of Tom’s gullibility, he doesn’t publicly disregard Tom’s easily altered opinion. In addition, he doesn’t provide inappropriate judgment on Daisy and Tom’s recollection of rumors regarding Nick’s romantic life. His actions run parallel to his earlier and more general statements regarding judgment.
