Animal Farm
Power corruption can harm the society.
Animal Farm, on the other hand opens my eyes to see how terrible it can be when the power itself corrupts. Orwell describes the idea of Animalism as another Utopians where every animal wants to be in, that everyone’s life is going to be perfect. Of course, those dreams are made up by the smart pigs to encourage the animals to work harder. The power corruption here happens to those ungrateful and ambitious pigs that only want to have power control over the Manor farm. The novel has indeed proves to us that there is no such things like the utopia of Animalism. In our country’s perspective, I believe that the some people who have the power to control people below them tend to misuse the power they have. That is how the power itself corrupts. From the Animal Farm, it is obviously illogical and impractical to think that the pigs, as the rulers will ensure that everyone gets equal share of wealth, status and happiness just like them. Some people who are on top will not be bothered to look at people in deprivation. They are also afraid to see others become more successful than them. Jealousy and pride turn them into people that do not show compassionate towards others.
Just like what happens in The Lottery, psychology mass can also be seen in Animal Farm. The successful way of spreading the propaganda by brainwashing people can turn a society into believing something white as black. People keep on maintaining the Lottery ritual because they are taught to believe that the Lottery is the thing that bring fortune and luck to their hometown. Meanwhile, in Animal Farm, all animals keep singing the Animal songs and shouting the slogans about Napoleon’s great service for all animals. Even though the neutral believer, Benjamin the donkey knows from the start that everything would just be about the same, and even worse, he could not influence others to believe his opinion. The animals’ sanity has been taken away by the great and sweet talker Squealer.
The singing anthem phenomenon can also be seen in our country. In the television or radio, the songs about unity between the races in Malaysia are being played most of the time. However, such described unity in the songs is not quite real. The three main races in our country are still selfish and refuse to tolerate with each other. Just like in Animal Farm, every animal know that Napoleon is not the wise and brave leader as told by the pigs, but they still sing the songs and praise Napoleon for nothing. This shows that the song anthems and all the slogans are nothing but fake things to be displayed in one’s society.
Besides the power of psychology mass, I have learned that we can influence people by having good interpersonal skills, just like what Squealer did. He has many cunning excuses that make him undefeated by other animals, although the things that he justified are not good. A good start to be a good speaker is to join the clubs that require us to talk in a public such as debating and public speaking clubs. After a few attempts, I am sure that we will gain some knowledge and aware of our freedom to speak in public confidently to express just about anything in life.

The Animal Farm of course talks generaly about what you mentioned but at its time was a criticisim on Soviet Unions tactics. Orwell was a socialist and put a point how difficult is to go straight from capitalism to comunism. My opinion is that is an utopia and humans like and looking after power that much, that until the end of time they will do the same.
yes i strongly agree wit u.. the animalism is exactly an utopia.. this story can be applied to many political situations such as in Korea and also Russia. history is meant to be remembered, not repeated..
