Forgotten British Authors

The Mighty James Family.

The James family was a powerful force in 19th century British Literature. Three of Henry James children were writers. Most people on think of Henry James Jr who was the great novelist and who I remembered reading in school because my teacher loved his wild writings. The Taming of the Screw is a fine novel but he does have some sexual themes. I admit that I had not read William James until recently. What a genius. Read his Lectures Varieties of Religious Experiences. These are very academic and they will challenge your views of God, matter, mind and thought. I certainly am glad that I recognize his brilliance now.

William encourages the intellect and creative exploraton. He would be pleased that I am finallly writing this review. I encourage you to read Paul Fisher’s new book The House of Wits. This Harvard graduate like William and Henry has beautiful defined the lives of all five James children. In a very academic book. We  will leave it up to you as the reader to deterimine the best writer and who has the most wit. That is the question of the day.

Enjoy the beauty of fine literature. The treasures are not forgotten!
