The Departure from Eden

Archangel Michael: (uses epithet Deliverer for God) wishes men good will, and god glory. Fall was not Felix culpa, and thus it did not bring humans greater happiness. (Going to hell will make it worse or when all the good people leave? People will do more harm under evil influence)

Angel: (uses epithet Comforter for God) (uses epithet Father for God) Angel replies they will. God has given all humans his spirit, and the law of faith (will be like armour). Humans under the power of god will be able to resist Satan. All the baptized will be able to do all good like the Lord (another epithet) and do all miracles. <= Lines 490 to 500 is saying what would happen if humans denied satan’s  powers. Mentions the humans will soon mess it up by believing in Popes, who will taint Christianity with superstitions and other things (he was against Catholic Church, for Anglican at this time) <= If they accept Satan.

Angel (Contd.): Everyone can read scriptures, and don’t need the Orthodox Church to help them. Nothing about persecution for conscience. Christs Gospel and Spirit of Grace (referring to God) will teach truth, civility, religion, and liberty. There will be a renewal of all things and refers to the “Woman’s Seed” (all evil will get their served justice)(Uses epithet Saviour for God). Satan will then give up and leave his home purged, refined, and will join heaven and all the world will be restart with peace and love (Judgments day).

Adam: He asks how long this will take to happen. Adam leaves feeling he is full of peaceful thoughts of the future, and knows all he can. Accomplishing good is much better, don’t fear  Satan, only person to think about is God. God will win in the end, so Satan is irrelevant and do as much good as possible. (epithet Redeemer, God) Doing good will make you worldly strong and worldly wise. Overall Message: obey God in addition to loving and fearing — always observing his guidance and care (providence), who is also merciful ..  ” and suffering is mental strength to victory, and that Adam learned to look to God even more .

Angel: Adam has attained great knowledge, and understands enough to be able to achieve all in the world, to a point where he can reach no higher. Adam must remember to have temperance, patience, virtue, love, charity, and others. By having all of this even though he is leaving Paradise, he will have a paradise in him which is much happier. Says they should depart now. Says to waken Eve. Says to later explain all of this to Eve. “Chiefly what may concern her faith to know, the great deliberates by her seed to come (For by the Woman’s Seed) on all mankind”…” much more cheered with meditation on the happy end” ß will be on happy end or heaven (all about after judgement day) Both leave the Hill. Wakes up Eve. Eve has dreamed everything that Adam has learned. “By me the Promised Seed shall all restore” (Promised seed epithet for).  Adam listened to everything but did not answer Eve. The Archangel stood there, (Chrubim–Angels) and like a meteor returned home. And then they saw the brandished sword of God. They left the cliff and went to the low lying plains. (they are leaving Paradise) The world was in front of them. Providence was their guide through this new area. And through Eden they took their solitary way (whats solitary way mean—foot note says especially resonant, and a paradox to hand in hand)
