Sitting in a slaughter house trying to avoid the bombs being dropped on a city is a way Billy survives World War Two, but that’s not all that happens to him. He travels across the world, through time, and space. Billy shows personalities like confusion, weird and simple. He is a complex, yet a simple guy. The book is easy to follow, but can make very little sense at times.

Let’s start with simple. Throughout the book Billy is able to keep everything in his life simple. You don’t see this trait that often in novels from their characters. He is a simple character with complex events following him. Billy shows his reactions to events, but most are of general. With the character simple and complex events people are able to see themselves in the story and are able to keep up with the storyline.

Confusion can be a trait that is commonly over looked. His confusion helps clear the story for the reader, but only confuses him more. Sometimes events would unfold but are confusing to the reader, but clear to Billy. Sometimes they would be clear to the reader, but cloudy to Billy. He often confuses people throughout the book, but they also confuse him.

The last and final one is he is weird, but sometimes isn’t creepy. Throughout the book he talks of aliens and time travels to past, present, and future. This trait has an affect on the book in a good way. If he didn’t time travel at all we would be given vague memories of what he can remember. He doesn’t believe that it helps him to see the future when he is able to see his death and is able to prolong it. He encounters it so many times he started to have trouble sleeping. It gets him in and out of trouble. He sees his death and tries to avoid if from happening and gets out of dieing, but it gets him back into trouble because he was supposed to die earlier.

Each trait would be nice to have, but some people wouldn’t be able to handle how they would die or a friend or relative dieing. Confusion can be a fun trait if someone feels ornery to make others confused. Sometimes being simple is what people would rather have then being really busy and having no free time to enjoy for them selves.
