Stephen King’s Best Five Books
This short article talks about five of Stephen King’s novels that in my opinion are the best he has written.
When it comes to the novels written by Stephen King there is not much dispute that each and every novel he has written has done well. Personally I have enjoyed every novel I have read (which is all of them to the present) but there are a few that really stand out in my mind as his greatest works. Below I have listed the five books that I consider to be his best works. Books are not in any particular order so number one doesn’t mean best overall.
The Shining
All time favorite book by King. Scared me to death when I read it as a small boy especially with the “redrum” word being repeated over and over again. In my opinion, the book is still tenfolds better than the movie.
The Stand
Awesome book. Classic story of good over evil but a apocalyptic scene with the devil and God make it a King story for sure. Some people thought the book was too long, I on the other hand thought it was appropriate length to get full story without questions at the end.
Cujo
When I was a kid this movie actually gave me a fear of dogs for a spell. Incredible book with awesome storytelling only King can provide.
Pet Cemetery
Another book which gave me nightmares as a kid but at the same time I could not put it down each night. This was my favorite book growing up.
The Green Mile
Started as a short story and then was adapted into a full novel along with a movie release. This is one of my all time favorite books and is an incredible read. When originally released in paperback, book came out in 6 different installments keeping you in suspense each month until the next part came out……loved it!
Well, there you have it – my picks for the best five Stephen King novels. When it comes down to King, I know that you could honestly list out almost any of his books for the best so I will be curious to hear other takes on favorites so feel free to comment.
Liked it

I liked this write, dissapointed not to see Dreamcatcher up there but you are right they are all equally brilliant. Good Job
i have never read any of his books but i have watched his films on tv, the other is the storm, good acting, good picture of a vampire visiting a town to take one kid away from them, if they dont somebody dies so they have no choice but to agree.
You like Stephen king, Some of books were on Tv.
I remember reading Pet Semetary when I was in 9th grade. I could not put it down once I started reading. Excellent read! It was the only Stephen King novel I read from beginning to end, and boy did I get really absorbed into the plot! And, the novel is WAY better than the movie.
I agree with all but The Stand, didn’t really get into that one. I am currently rereading Dreamcatcher, which is one of my all-time favorites. I think my favorite is Salem’s Lot, it is the book that got me hooked on Stephen King in high school.
Definitely the master!
Well IT must be the ultimate book of King and the horror genre….I read it (no pun intended lol) periodically. Followed by Salem’s Lot, Pet Sematary, Christine and Shining and …oh so many great reads.
Dreamcatcher and Duma Key are my most recent favorites
