The Battle of Bosworth

Information about the Battle of Bosworth, the battle in which King Richard III fell.

So, as we have found out in the after reports of the Battle of Bosworth, King Richard has died. This may be the last major battle, for years to come. Henry Tudor is now crowned king. We have found out that before Henry landed here on his ship, he avoided Viscount Lovell’s fleet that was sent to destroy Henry by the old king Richard.

Henry’s rather small amount of forces mainly consisted of French and Breton mercenaries and he wasn’t as war experienced as Richard. But lucky for Henry he had his uncle Jasper Tudor and John De Vere who were both very seasoned soldiers.

Richard fell, mainly cause of the act of the Stanley brothers, Sir William Stanley and Thomas Stanley who Richard depended on during the battle and they turned on him during the battle. The Stanleys seem to have taken up a position some distance away from the two main armies. This was because Richard had taken Thomas Stanley’s son and would kill him if he helped Henry. So the Stanley brothers waited until Henry was in a position where he would definitely win with their help. However if Henry was being destroyed by Richard they could help him and get Thomas’ son back.

As the King Henry VII has been crowned, he is now looking to all the soldiers and politicians that had helped Richard, and he is trying them for treason.

So now that Richard is gone, will Henry do a good job of leading England? And will his family continue to lead England?
