In the novel, Hinton addresses principal factors that affects in both parties. “The greasers and the socs” involvement in violence. The socs involvement with violence has many factors, some factors are that they’re bored, they have nothing to do for kicks, alcoholism is another factor, alcohol could lead to abusive behaviour. They have too much power and protection, one day they will be in trouble with the law, the other day, they will be an asset community. As Hinton writes in the book, the socs are too liberated, they need to set boundaries from themselves.

As the novel continues, Hinton also states how the Greasers are terrorized by socs. The greasers are involved in this violence in the act of self-defence, the socs are bored and have nothing to do, so, they bully greasers, without the fear if trouble from the law. The greasers are victims of the socs and the community, because of stereotypes, the community believes that greasers are a disgrace to the society and does not stress about the persecution of the greasers, this is victimization. The greasers are victims of both the socs and the general public.

As the world advances, the society will still have people similar to the greasers, they will be considered as a shame to the community, they will be victims of their community, and victimized by the community. There will always be a east side, and the west side. No matter what happens, this will never stop.
