The Outsiders
Great book for all ages.
The Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton, is one of my favorite books. The Outsider is a book filled with hate, romance, and friendship. It’s has a little bit of everything for everyone and it ties together nicely with a little twist. This book keeps you wondering and addicted and every new page you flip there’s a new adventure. It starts out something like this, “When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I had only two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a ride home.”
Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry are all brothers and they are part of a gang called the greasers. The greasers are people that are poor and where lots of hair gel. They lost both their parents and they have to stick together with their other gang members like Two Bit, Johnny, and Darry. The greasers are a group of friends who stick together and I think it’s neat how they solve problems and it makes me appreciate my friends.
The Socs are the greasers rivals and they are just people that think they are all that and think they are rich. The Socs and greasers are always fighting and jumping each other. But one night it goes too far and Bob is killed. This was a big turning point for me in the book and it added a little bit of adventure. It also added some tension on the greasers and fights between Darry and Ponyboy became intense.
When a fire was started in an old church and a bunch of little kids were trapped in it Ponyboy, Johnny, and Dally went into the church to save them. That made me look at Ponyboy as a hero but when Johnny was saving the kids a beam struck him in the back killing him. Johnny was Dallys only friend and when he lost him we went on a rampage and made the cops kill him.
The greasers lost two gang members and that made the book change completely. Ponyboy and the rest of the gang stick together even though their lives aren’t the same it is starting to become normal. This book was incredible and I would recommend this book to everyone. It changed the way I look at things and it made me value my friends and family more.
