“To Kill a Monkingbird”
An essay talking about risk taking…
Risk taking is something that humans do in everyday life. In the book To Kill A Mockingbird there have been many cases of this where character taken risks to speak their heart out or to do something they believe in. The one most risky move taken was when Atticus accepted to defend Tom Robinson in court. Hem and Boo Radley both make bold decisions where Jem goes to jail to see if Atticus is fine. Also Boo Radley saves the children where Bob Ewell was trying to kill them.
Atticus takes a bold step when he accepts the case of defending Tom Robinson. At the time when this case was going on the whites thought that black people were insignificant and interior. This was a risk to Atticus because many people in town changed their perspective on him and also it put his family in grave danger. Despite all this, this step that Atticus took had impacted society to a better understanding of the equality of human.
Atticus does not just put his family in danger but also himself as he guards the jail door of Tom Robinson he is suddenly confronted with many people who hate Negros and aim to lynch Tom Robinson. Jem arrives at the scene and protects Atticus because if the gang of people had attacked Atticus Jem, Scout and Dill would also have been in danger. The result of this is Atticus is not injured in any way and also Atticus realizes that Jem is not the little boy that he thought he was.
Boo Radley the guardian angel of Scout and Jem was always taking risks from putting things in the tree to saving them from Bob Ewell. This had saved Scout and Jem‘s life not only that but he change their point of view towards him. Before Scout and Jem had thought of him as a curiosity but now they realize that he is just a shy caring person
Risk taking is not only a part of life but it is also a way of discovering yourself and new people. Risk taking is a form of expressing your own feelings risks should be taken when you are ready to face the consequences of the risks but at the same time you know that it is the right thing to do. If no one took a risk in the book To Kill A Mockingbird then there would have been no court case, no one to save Jem and Scout. If there was a world without risk taking there would be no discoveries and man kind would come to a stop.
