White Fang
Some insight of White Fang by Jack London.
White Fang by Jack London was a brilliant novel about a wolf-dog’s life and journey through the wild and into his new life as a domesticated dog. London does an extremely well job in explaining in detail the wolf-dog’s life and how he adapted to his environments. The novel shows how White Fang, the wolf-dog goes through many hardships, starting with his early life of being an only pup and having only a mother to care for him. This is hard for a wolf-dog since he has the senses of a wolf, but not the cunning since he was half dog. The novel is filled with adventure beginning with White Fang growing up, meeting different masters, multiple ones treating him harshly, and finally meeting a master who treats him with respect and cares for him. White Fang is full of mystery as well. White Fang growing up had the instincts of a wolf, but only the speed and cunning of a dog. The reader would be left guessing many times to what White Fang would do since he could not match up with other wolfs that he encountered. To make up for this, White Fang worked very hard to achieve his goal of becoming the wolf that he wanted to be to survive well in the wild. White Fang is truly a novel that any animal lover, or Jack London fan needs to read
