Edgar Wallace: Crime Writer – A Three Part Feature Starting Soon

In a writing career that spanned thirty-five years Edgar Wallace wrote a hit song, a lot of very bad poetry, 175 best-selling novels, 24 hit plays, 11 non-fiction titles, and thousands of newspaper and magazine articles…

I don’t know how many of you saw Peter Jackson’s film version of King Kong just a few years ago. But if you did, and hung around long enough afterwards to read the credits, you might have noticed the name Edgar Wallace listed as one of screenwriters of the original 1932 version; which is more than RKO did.

But if you didn’t it doesn’t matter because Jackson, a master craftsman, realised early on in pre-production, that he had to create a colourful pulp fiction feel, and therefore had to go back to the master craftsman of that genre – Edgar Wallace.
