Perry Mason The Eternel Detective of Earle S Gardner

 One writer in the mystery field who has made name for himself as well as created a detective is Earle Stanley Gardner. He created one of the resilient fictitious character named Perry Mason. Perry Mason  is a lawyer and a detective who rivals the character created by Agatha Christie , Hercule Poiret.

Earle Stanley Gardner was an American who was also a lawyer. He was able thus to combine his experience in the legal field with the character he created. His character perry Mason raised subtle legal points as well. Gardners character was the hero of hundreds of books. In fact Gardner churned out novels like a machine. He had a vast secretariat and as per some reports he dictated his novels to his staff. 

Gardner not only created Perry Mason, but he also created other characters like his secretary Della Street and Lieutenant Tragg of the homicide department. Gardner’s stories are mostly set in and around Los Angles. Many people fee that Gardner was not a ‘great writer. But there is no doubt he wrote some extremely  racy and intriguing stories that can make a reader think. Perry Mason rarely used the gun and relied all the time on his acumen and detection capability. Thus in way Gardner was not a votary of a violent hero like say Harold Robinson.

Earle Stanley Gardner will not be part of the syllabus of a course in Post graduate literature , but he will be remembered for giving to the world a lawyer detective named Perry Mason and some excellent novels that touched on the finer points of law
