Main Characters: Abe Glitsky, Dismas Hardy

Brief Synopsis: This book is about how the two main characters who are working in different fields of crime investigation and are trying to find the person who killed an insurance agency CEO who died in his own hospital. The CEO, Tim Markham happened to be owed over 13 million dollars by the town and there seem to be coincidences with the same people being in the same room whenever people had died at the hospital. Both agents are on different sides of the case and have different opinions but are both working for one goal, to stop the suspected hit and run killer from making his 13th move.

Significant Quotes:

  •  “Alright, I’m going to put you two on this case. Maybe you should go down and see if the inspectors missed anything, also, try to find some witnesses.” – Abe Glitsky
  • This is important because Glitsky does not think these cops won’t be able to do anything and he does not realize the importance of the case yet. This will prove to be a large mistake later on in the story.
  • “Don’t you think that maybe you’re trying to solve the wrong problem?” – Dismas Hardy
  • The significance of this quote is that although the men are trying to find the same criminals, their suspects are quite different and even though they are friends, their opinions on this case start to come between them at times.
  •  “I don’t know. I just can’t let this killer get himself a baker’s dozen worth of deaths.” – Abe Glitsky

The importance of this quote is that the killer has killed so many people and injured almost 3x as many as killed. This could quickly get out of hand if the public should get angry about it at any given time.
