The reasons why Ponyboy feels lonely, unwanted and hit by bad circumstances in S.E. Hinton’s novel The Outsiders.
Ponyboy is lonely, unwanted, and hit by bad circumstances and one of them is Steve, who doesn’t want Ponyboy hanging around with him and Sodapop and calls him a tag along. Steve shouldn’t call Ponyboy a tag along because it is Soda that invites him to tag along with them. Another reason Ponyboy might feel lonely is because when Steve calls him a tag along Soda might tell him to just go with them next time and Ponyboy really likes hanging with his brother Soda. He may also feel this way because he doesn’t get much attention wile he’s at home. Those are only some of the reasons I think Pony might be lonely at home.
Pony wants his mom and dad back and when he’s a runaway hanging at the church he wishes he were back at home in his bed sleeping. Ponyboy might feel unwanted because Darry is always going hard on him and hit him for the first time. Darry is tougher then his mom and dad ever where and its because Darry loves Pony but Pony thinks its because he hates him. Pony may also feel unwanted because Soda has a job and spends most of his time with Steve because he works with him and Pony thinks Johnny is the only one that can relate to him.
The Socs wont let him talk to their hot Soc girls and especially not Cherry a red headed girl that that they meet at the movies and her boyfriend is one of the leaders of the Socs named Bob. They despise him especially in the A classes. Pony is one of the few smart greasers who is smart and actually gets good grades and excels in school. His brother Darry also was a good student but he had to quit school and get s job when their parents died so he could support his two brothers. Soda was also a drop out but he wasn’t very good in school any way so he just got a job and Pony felt lonely because he was the only one who didn’t have a job and missed his brothers.
Ponyboy is hit hard by bad circumstances when his parents die and he is left alone with his two brothers. He is also hit hard when one of his best friends Johnny dies from and accident when they were saving they children from the burning building. Pony was also sad when Dally one of the older and stronger greasers like Darry was depressed and got himself killed by the police when Johnny died. He might get put in a home and get separated from his brothers and get put in a boy’s home because of his part in the killing of the Soc.
The last thing I think makes Pony fell unwanted, lonely, and hit by bad circumstances is put in the hospital from a concussion. He sees that Darry was there sitting in an arm chair and Darry says he was in bad condition and he had been asking for Soda and him buy mostly for Soda. Pony starts to doubt that he even asked for Darry because he didn’t remember asking for him. Those are only some of the reasons I can think Pony feels unwanted, lonely, and hit by bad circumstances.
