How To Write an Amazing Literary Critique

If you are wanting to find out how to write a perfect literary critique, you have found the right site!  First you must start with a introductory paragraph that should have this.  Starting with a introduction statement to get your readers to want more to read.  Here are some things you should write about in this paragraph: how you felt about this book if you liked it or not.  Information on the book and the author.  Explain how the book you read was a good experience or a bad one.

Second is the body of the critique this is where most of the meat is.  In this paragraph you should talk about two of these topics.  #1 Did the author keep your attention throughout the book?  What parts did you like and how did the author keep you interested?  #2 Who were your favorite characters?  Why did you like them and how did they connect to you?  How did the author make them appeal to you?  #3 What would you change in the novel to make it better? #4 Which were your favorite scenes and why?  Pick at least two of those topics to expand on in this section.

Last in the critique is the conclusion paragraph.  Finish off with explaining these: would you recommend this book to friends?  Is this book good for students to read for school?  While reading this book what have you learned and was it a positive experience?  What are some good ideas for helping people understand the book next time you read it?

Remember this must be in the correct format.  It needs to be in paragraphs and not one big paragraph.  If you need help correcting the format ask friends to help you double check!  Here is an amazing literary critique on the book THE CHOSEN.  Now go off and write more amazing critiques!

I really enjoyed reading this book.  The Chosen was written by Chaim Potok who was also a Jew just like Reuven in the book.  This was a book that I didn’t want to put down and stop reading. When reading this book I learned more about the Jewish community and culture. I read a lot of new Jewish vocabulary that I never heard or understood before. I am extremely glad I picked this book to read. I had a great experience with reading The Chosen.

The four main characters of this book were: Danny Saunders, Reuven Malter, Reb Saunders, and Rabbi David Malter. Danny was a Hasidic Jew who had a great mind and could memorize everything. Reuven was an Orthodox Jew who also had a great mind and was more into mathematics. Both of those boys grew up in their strict religious communities in New York. Living a few blocks away from each other and never knowing who each other were. Also both of their fathers, Reb Saunders and Rabbi David Malter, were leaders of their religious communities. Those two boys never met each other until and tragic baseball injury occurred when Danny hit a baseball at Reuven’s eye. The injury turned the boys into best of friends. Although, the religious differences of their religions their fathers kept them on a monitored relationship. Reb Saunders eventually ends their friendship and will bring them back together again just because of their beliefs. David Malter and Reb Saunders are great men with great minds. With religious beliefs the most important part of their lives Reb Saunders believe raising Danny in silence is the best way to raise him. Contrary to that belief David Malter is extremely close to Reuven and very social together. Even though Danny is raised by a strict Hasidic Tzitzit he seeks to read books and learn information that his Hasidic beliefs reject. Danny is in line to continue the lasting dynasty of his family becoming Tzitzit of their religious community, but Danny has his mind on breaking the line and becoming a psychologist. At the same time Reuven who is not obligated to becoming a Rabbi wants to be a Rabbi. The author did a great job making the characters come alive. My favorite character was Danny Saunders. He wants to learn so much and expand his knowledge. Then he has a goal of becoming a psychologist which is against his father’s will. Danny doesn’t let people stop him from achieving his goals and I really admire that mind set of his. All of the characters in this book were so real to me and seemed like any normal Jewish kid would be.

In the beginning of The Chosen it started with a baseball game which got me into the book. The game kept my attention and made me want to read more. As the book progressed it started to die down in the middle while they were finishing up high school and starting college. After all the slowness it picked up again for me when Danny and Reuven became friends again. The curiosity of wondering how the book was going to end and the resolution of Reb Saunders, Danny, and Reuven made me want to finish the book. The author started off great and finished great with a little loll during the middle of the book. Overall I was engaged and wanting to read this book.

The main thing I felt I learned from The Chosen was the Jewish vocabulary and how the Holocaust affected the Jewish community in the Americas. For example I learned what these words mean: Tzitzit, abba, Talmud, and ear locks. Reading about the disputes between religions on the topic of Zionism opened my eyes to how different Jewish religions argue with one another. I never even knew that there was more then one Jewish religion. I all ways thought it was one big thing. I would recommend to my friends to read The Chosen if they want to learn about a new religion and culture. Teachers should all have this book on the reading list for students. This will teach them about a whole new world they don’t know of. When reading this book it all ways helped me to put me into their situation to help better understand what was going on. The Chosen was an incredible book to read!
