You Have Got to Have Faith
A brief examination of the uproar Dan Brown’s book “The Da Vinci Code” caused on unsuspecting Irish men in a pub in Toronto.
So wasn’t I have the time of my life at the Galway Arms in Toronto a few weeks ago and there was a group of fine Irishmen talking and have the craic and I settle into their company. Suddenly the conversation tone changes and they got real serious and asked me whether I read Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code and whether or I not I thought it was real.
“No” says I, “its works of fiction”.
“But the premise,” they wailed, “of the Holy Grail and Mary’s position usurped. How did you feel about that?”
They wanted to know whether I believe that there is a conspiracy to crush the female presence in the bible or the church.
“Well yes, me bucko’s I’d say so. But that’s hardly new information”.
“Could it really be so? Could the Christ reality at that time be such a dangerously new consciousness, that the powerful and influential would silence the Madonna?
All indication points to a presence that is very much alive. So dangerous, it was hidden with mighty effort yet the truth of it diligently keeps the flame lit.
Faith, the ability to believe in something, sight unseen, is dangerous and necessary. It is a vital component to life. Whether you have faith in a particular dogma or whether you simply have faith in yourself and your family it is the torch carried in our hearts. Don’t be afraid of the word “faith”. It isn’t limiting.
Here’s a list that’s worth a look. See what do you make of this?
