Flaw in Harry Potter
Like me most have read this book and must find it one of the best books. But, then this book is also full of flaws. Check in to know the biggest flaw of book.
“Harry Potter” book series is considered to be one of the best literary works. It is also one of the most read books. Even a series of movies has been made on this book series. It is one of the most favorite books for people of all ages.
But then I think that there is a flaw in this story which most of the people have just skipped. It is well known that Harry is a parselmouth which helps him to communicate with snake. Now, this is the most easily visible flaw which no one observed.
If you ask zoologists, then they will tell you that the snakes are reptiles and hence they can’t hear. They detect the presence or absence of an object by detecting vibrations in the earth.
So, even if Harry can understand parseltongue, but, to make snake understand he must have used the vibrations not the voice i.e. rather than speaking in a hissing manner he should have made the vibrations on earth. This is because snake can’t hear. But, in this book snake can hear and can respond to it which defies the basic laws of science.
So, the book on which there is so much research is going on and for which many people are crazy, they should wake up. Since, this is nothing more than a simple fictional book.

Good observation……..but I really hope that English is not your first language.
dude, you know that sound IS vibration ?
you’re talking about the idea of parselmouth ( the snakes hearing him ) not being possible, scientifically. He can turn teacups into gerbils.
HEY! what about the flaw where children do magic?
and you have a brain!
you clearly havent picked out a flaw…to pick out a flaw in a fictional book you have to find something within that fictional world that contradicts something else within that same fictional world…
are you wise to the whole santa clause scandal yet?
Snakes are reptiles, not amphibians
ROFL !! LOL!! you are all funny espiacially the author don’t you know hissing creates vibration in the air thus the snake sense the wave and interprets it.
I applaud your efforts into this, but I have to unfortunately reject them. Like r33skyline stated, flaws in a fictional book must be contrary to something else the author wrote. For instance, if J.K. Rowling were to say, Harry Potter had a scar on his left arm and then rave about how the scar on his right arm hurt, that’d be possible to flaws, provided he only had one scar. Weak example, but you get the point. I know you probably are proud of your discoevry, but it is not a flaw and not a big deal by many means. . .

I believe that there is a flaw in the overall story line, which dramatically impacts or dare I say contradicts a major element of the story…
In the Deathly Hallows, the story unfolds whereby it is determined that Dumbledore had possession of the Elder Wand, which is said to be a wand that can never be defeated. It then changes owners to Draco, who disarms him in the previous book, “Half Blood Prince” and as you all know, then changes to Harry when he takes it from Draco…
The major flaw that I (and possibly others) have identified is as follows:
If Dumbledore had possesion of the Elder wand by defeating (I believe his name was) Grindlewald years prior, then how could he not have defeated Voldemort when they duelled in “Order of the Phoenix”? I would think that if Dumbledore had and was using the Elder wand, then as per the legend of the Death Stick, there would be no way for him to lose in that duel against Voldemort. Yet, as the story and movie go, they duelled dramatically prior to Voldemort possessing Harry…How could Voldemort have survived the duel against the Elder Wand, said to be with Dumbledore at that time?? It took Harry but a moment and his signature curse (disarm) to defeat Voldemort in the end because he was the master of the Elder Wand…So why would it not have been as easy as that for Dumbledore??
I may have missed something along the way so if anyone has the answer, please feel free to email me..

I read recently that Dumbledore had never intended to kill Voldemort in their duel. It doesn’t make too much sense to me why he would do that. I think Dumbledore could have defeated Voldemort if he had tried. But, going into even more detail, If Dumbledore had killed Voldemort in that duel, it would have only killed Voldemort’s body and that part of his soul. He still had a number of Horcruxes that would have kept him alive. I’m reading the books over so I will try to drop by again and clarify things a bit. As for why it was so easy for Harry to defeat Voldemort… As I understand it, Voldemort was using the Elder Wand for a little while in the 7th book but it wasn’t working properly. This was because he wasn’t the owner of the wand. So, when Voldemort used Kavada Kadavra on Harry, the spell wasn’t nearly as powerful as it should have been. The fact that the killing curse(cast by Voldemort) was being used to kill the wands owner(Harry) further weakened the spell making it easy for Harry’s disarming spell to over power Voldemort’s killing curse. If you go to JKR’s website and go to the FAQ’s about the book, she answers a lot of questions that I had about the story. As for Harry being a parseltongue… I completely agree with r33skyline. For one, it’s a fictional story. The author can write whatever she wants. This, in my opinion, is not a flaw in the story.

Thanks for the response Brian…I guess when looking even further back into the Death Stick’s history, one might also ask how Dumbledore could have even beaten Grindewald in the duel that they had if Grindewald was the owner of the Elder wand at that time?? If memory serves, the book details how the passing of the wand had for the most part, been the result of murder and not through proper duels where the victor wins it…Owners were tricked or murdered out of having the death stick…So using your theory, one would have to suspect that the Death Stick obeys its masters intentions, whereby if Dumbledore didn’t intend on beating Voldemort in their duel, then the wand would be weaker…I guess the same would have to be said about Grindewald…Maybe he didn’t want to beat Dumbledore either. However, given how obsessed Grindewald and Dumbledore were with possessing the Deathly Hallows (detailed in the story), it’s kinda hard to believe that Grindewald would have intentionally lost the duel against Dumbledore knowing that he would lose the Elder Wand in the process.
Just something of interest that struck me as I was reading through the books. At the end of the day, the entire story is a fantastic one and I have truly enjoyed every book and every movie thus far…I’m looking very forward to seeing the ending on film…
Thanks for the response and the discussion!! I’m sure the answers are in the story somewhere…
Don’t talk bad about Harry Potter. I am Hermione Granger, and I will Avada Kadavra your ass.
Vauldemort’s dead, it’s enough. Harry Potter is amazing.
Too bad I’ve got Ron.
