Great Book: Hatching Magic!!!

I read the book entitled Hatching Magic, which was written by Ann Downer. It was a well-written book and I enjoyed reading it. It is about a wyvern named Wycca, her master Gideon, and the young girl Theodora who helps them.

Theodora Oglethorpe is the main character she is a wyvern lover. Her father goes out on a business trip and she is stranded with Mikko, who is the housekeeper. Theodora is a very clumsy and curious girl. She loves action and anything that is exciting. She is obsessed with anything that has to do with wyverns. She is given the nickname dodo by Mikko. She gets mad when called dodo, but Mikko calls her it anyway. Gideon is a servant and a good warlock. He is the master of a pregnant wyvern named Wycca. Wycca is very intelligent, she get into a lot of trouble thru out the story. The enemies of the story are Kobold and his demon servant Febrys.

The story starts with Wycca looking for a place to lay her egg in the middle ages. She finds a bolt-hole thru time and ends up in Boston. Gideon follows the wyvern. When he gets to Boston he meets Merlin and they try to devise a plan to catch the wyvern. The plans fail many times. While Gideon and Merlin try to catch Wycca Kobold also tries to get her. Gideon fears that Kobold might find the wyvern first and take her from him. Kobolds servant Febrys possess Mikko and Theodora is suspicious of the change in Mikko but has no clue why. The reason Mikko is possessed is because Theodora found a card that Gideon had lost. The card is called the triumph card. With this card Kobold could control Gideon’s wyvern. It takes Gideon, Merlin and Theodora to defeat Kobold. They do this by infusing their consciences.

Hatching magic was a good book with a very vivid vocabulary of words. The characters were in detail even the minor ones. I would recommend this book to only fantasy lovers be they young kids or adults. I believe the author did a great job.
