The Longest Classic Fantasy Epic Novel in English Literature
You may be wondering who wrote the longest published epic classic fantasy novel ever in English? It is not “The Lord Of The Rings” and it is not “The Chronicles of Narnia”. And it is not even the “Harry Potter” series either.
No. J.R.R. Tolkien did not publish the longest classical epic fantasy novel in English literature with his The Lord of the Rings. No, T.S. Eliott did not qualify with his The Chronicles of Narnia. Not even J.K. Rowling and her Harry Potter series.
The title of longest classical English fantasy epic novel belongs to James Oliver Rigney Jr., under the pen name Robert Jordan, with his epic fantasy novel, The Wheel of Time. This English classical fantasy epic novel is huge: there is a total of 528 chapters with a total of 9,213 pages! There are 15 books to this fantasy epic novel. Robert Jordan wrote the first 12 books. The Wheel of Time, in its entirety, was published between 1990 and 2010. The last 3 books he left unfinished due to his poor health with cardiac amyloidosis, which he succumbed to in 2007. This project took 20 years to complete! Truly, James Oliver Rigney Jr’s magnum opus!
