A Book Traces The Musical Legacy of Townes Van Zandt
A book traces the musical legacy of Townes Van Zandt.
On January 1 will be fulfilled 15 years of the death of Townes Van Zandt. To remember him, TAMU Press published on November 28 the book of Brian T. Atkinson “I’ll Be Here in the Morning: The Songwriting Legacy of Townes Van Zandt.” The author interviewed several musicians to give testimony of how the work of Van Zandt has influenced their careers. Along with veterans like Kris Kristofferson, Guy Clark, Billy Joe Shaver, Rodney Crowell, Lucinda Williams and Lyle Lovett, we find the younger Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Josh Ritter and Scott Avett (The Avett Brothers). Two separate prologues “Cowboy” Jack Clement and Harold F. Eggers Jr (manager and friend of Townes Van Zandt) topped the book.
