Growing Up with President Franklin Roosevelt
There are two good books out right now that occur in the Age of President Franklin Roosevelt. He was the best President in U.S. history and every decent America should read at least one of them.
Hands of My Father by Myron Uhlberg is a wonderful tribute to two beautiful parents who just did not have the sense of hearing, but they raised two beautiful and accomplished boys in New York during the depression and World War Two. If you know the basics of sign language you will learn a couple of new signs from this book. Visit www.lexncy.comThis is a school that is mentioned in the book who do great things for the deaf. Lexington is spelled with the sign alphabet. Check it out for that. This is a great charity to give to. It was mind blowing in basic signing class with people not caring about the number three and w letter. In Spoken English the sign for three is the w. In signing, it is the first two fingers and the thumb. That need to be said because no one in the hearing world gets it! Visit the site.
Too Close To the Sun by Curtis Roosevelt is a fantastic insight to the Roosevelt Home. Some of Curt’s life occurredin Hyde Park, New York. You get to see two different versions of New york. Curtis truly adored His Papa Roosevelt and he suffered from polio a serious neurological condition that was and Ullberg concern as well. President Roosevelt refused to be called handicapped and he was the greatest president in U.S. history. just look at all he had to face at home and for the country. I considerable about of pain.
It is no wonder that the Uhberg’s admired President Roosevelt as well. Both Ulberg and Roosevelt had big hearts and and where strong and loving men to have such wonderful offspring care for them so much.
