Low self-esteem is also tackled in this book which is the primary cause of depression. I think this book is very helpful for those who are willing to open-up and to heal their wounds from the past bad memories.

Depression can be caused by the hormonal imbalance, but also can caused by low self-esteem, which is resulted by guilt and inner sense of injustices. How can we repair our self-esteem? By facing the problem with honesty and God’s grace, and be responsible for the matter. If you could accept the forgiveness, which is given to you by God graciously, then you can forgive others who cause your hurts. Jesus Christ who was nailed and died on the cross. He bore our transgressions and infirmities so there will be no debt-collecting on our part. Therefore, surrender all to Lord that can be used by Satan as his arsenal weapon to destroy your lives and dreams.

The Israelites wanted to pursue the Promise Land – the land of milk and honey. But, they are afraid to take a risk. But, Caleb and Joshua have different outlook and they encouraged their fellow Israelites to pursue the Promise Land. They are not only depended on their skills and courage but they are fully depended on the providence of God. Are you willing to take risk and give your life another chance? Or, are you going to give up? The choice is yours.

You cannot forgive yourself while you do not overcome your perfectionism. Perfectionism is the false idealized image of yourself, and it distorts your belief in the absolute perfection of God. To love yourself is to become a realist. To be a realist, you are not ashamed of your expressions of your own emotions and willing to face the worst scenario of life. If you are healed, you can also be an agent of healing to other fellow strugglers. By relating to them, you can share to them what you discovered in healing.

David A. Seamands outlook in life is different. He has realistic and scriptural approach in life, which is encouraged us to have daily fellowship with God. Through this book review, I can also be an agent of healing to others who struggle from past painful memories.
